Animated GIFs play

Animated GIF, WebP and APNG files now play instead of showing their first frame, with their own timing and looping.
Long GIFs work too: frames are decoded as they're needed, so a GIF with thousands of frames starts playing right away.
A frames bar under the image: play / pause (K), previous / next frame (, and .), a timeline to click or drag to any frame (hover it to preview a frame), and playback speed from 0.25× to 4×.
The ⋯ menu on the frames bar copies the frame on screen, saves it as PNG, or keeps only that frame as a still image (undo brings the animation back).
Edit animations

Crop, resize, straighten, rotate, flip, adjustments, curves and levels apply to every frame.
Blur / pixelate zones hide whatever each frame shows there.
Ctrl+S (and Save) on an animation saves an animated GIF with your edits and annotations, keeping its timing and looping. PNG, JPEG and WebP save the frame on screen.
The navigator follows the animation, and Image info shows frames, duration, frame rate and looping.
Background removal is for still images. On an animation, use Keep only this frame first.
Save original is easier to reach

New shortcut Ctrl+Shift+S, a toolbar button (hide it like any other by right-clicking the toolbar), and Original file at the top of More → Save.
View original

Now in the right-click menu for images opened from a web page, with a shortcut (Shift+O).
All shortcuts can be changed in Settings → Viewer → Keyboard shortcuts.

No new permissions in this version.

Betterviewer 3.1.0:

• Customizable keyboard shortcuts: click any shortcut in the shortcuts list (?) or in Settings → Viewer → Keyboard shortcuts and press new keys. Keys already used elsewhere move to the new command, each shortcut can be reset or removed, and tooltips, menus and Quick launch show your keys.
• Ctrl+Shift combinations BetterViewer doesn't use (Ctrl+Shift+A, Firefox's Ctrl+Shift+K console…) now reach the browser instead of running the Ctrl shortcut.
• New shortcuts: Bring forward (}) and Send backward ({).
• Zoom speed setting (Settings → Viewer): how far each wheel notch, the zoom buttons and the zoom keys zoom, from 0.25× to 3×. Trackpad pinch still follows your fingers.
• Faster zoom: hold Alt, or Ctrl Shift, while scrolling to zoom 3× faster (also over the navigator).
• Customizable toolbar: choose which buttons the toolbar shows in Settings → Appearance → Toolbar buttons, or right-click the toolbar. Hidden buttons keep their keyboard shortcuts, and the More button always stays.

What's new in 3.0.4

• BetterViewer now speaks your language: the interface is available in 16 languages and follows your browser's language. You can change it any time in Settings. Right-to-left languages are fully supported.
• New navigator: a mini map of the image while you zoom in. Click or drag it to move around, or press Shift+N to show or hide it.
• Long images, like full-page screenshots, are now much easier to move around in the navigator.

Fixes
- Keyboard shortcuts now work with every keyboard layout, including non-Latin ones. For example, R rotates the image even when your keyboard types other letters.
- Panels open in the right place and move correctly when dragged in right-to-left languages.
- Fixed an unwanted sideways scrollbar in some panels with longer translations.

This update needs no new permissions.

BetterViewer v3.0.3
Clicking the BetterViewer icon now shows a small menu: open an empty viewer, Screenshot this page, Browse page images, or jump straight to Settings, Keyboard shortcuts or About.
New features:
- Screenshot this page (Alt+Shift+S): captures the visible part of the page and opens it in BetterViewer, ready to annotate.
- Alt+Shift+G opens (and closes) the page gallery.
- Download all as ZIP: save every image of the page gallery in one click.
- History panel (More → View → History): every edit in a list; click a step to go back or forward to it.
- Reverse image search on Google Lens, Bing and Yandex, next to TinEye. Unedited web images are searched by their address, without uploading.
Improvements:
- Simpler More menu (Open, Save, Image tools, Search image, Share, View, Help) and a shorter right-click menu.
- The page gallery shows its image list by default.
Note: this version adds the activeTab permission, used to take screenshots of the current page.

- Your images stay on your device unless you choose to share them.

Resolved repeated welcome message
The “Welcome to BetterViewer” popup no longer appears multiple times unnecessarily. It will now show only when appropriate, improving user experience
