Om denne utvidinga
Threshold is a site blocker for adults choosing recovery from pornography, gambling, doomscroll, anything the future-you doesn't want the present-you to choose.
It works differently from every other blocker.
You don't unlock it with a password you can guess at 2 AM. You don't pause it for a "productivity break." You don't even uninstall it without your accountability partner being told.
How it works
1. During setup, you generate a random commitment code and never see it again. The lock isn't tied to your willpower — it's tied to a string nobody knows.
2. You name one trusted person — a friend, mentor, sponsor, spouse — as your accountability partner. They get a short email when you slip, and a weekly summary on Sundays.
3. To remove a site or change the partner, you submit a request. Your partner gets an email with Approve and Deny buttons. If they approve, a 72-hour timer starts. They can revoke at any point during those 72 hours.
What's on the block screen
A calm page. Your pledge in your own words. A line of scripture, Stoic quote, or general affirmation (you choose during setup, or none). A 60-second breathing exercise if you want one. No "unblock" button anywhere.
What your partner sees
- Domain names you tried to visit (not full URLs, never page contents)
- Your current streak
- Your unlock requests with your written reason
What your partner never sees
- Your journal entries (those live only on your computer)
- Anything you typed beyond what you sent in an unlock request
- The rest of your browsing history
Six things Threshold deliberately doesn't include
- No leaderboards or social feeds. Recovery is not a competition.
- No "I'm feeling strong" override. The whole product exists because past-you knew future-you couldn't be trusted with that button.
- No partner access to journal contents — even if you opt in.
- No streak freezes or vacation mode. The streak has to mean what it says.
- No AI chatbot. A bot is not a substitute for a person who knows you.
- No data dashboards for clinicians, employers, or families. The cap is one trusted person.
Threshold is built on the principle that the user installed this when they were strong, and the design must protect them when they are tired, drunk, or sad at 2 AM. The shortest path is the right path.
Your data
Your blocklist, pledge, partner, and journal live on your computer (chrome.storage.local). Attempts and unlock requests are stored on our server only to send your partner the right emails. Journal entries are never sent anywhere. Full privacy policy: https://partner.jointhehold.com/privacy
Honest limits
A determined person can use another browser. We are honest about that. Threshold is not a wall — it's a threshold, a line you choose not to cross. The partner is the wall.
