Om denne utvidinga
ARC (Astronomy Reading Companion) is a lightweight, assistive reading extension designed for astronomy and astrophysics content.
It highlights key scientific terms directly in the text and provides short, accurate explanations on hover. ARC is intentionally non-summarizing and non-generative: it does not rewrite articles or replace reading. Instead, it reduces cognitive friction by clarifying terminology exactly where it appears.
The extension is especially useful for:
• Self-learners studying astronomy or astrophysics
• Students reading research summaries (e.g. AstroBites, arXiv abstracts)
• Developers and researchers reading technical documentation (e.g. ESA Pyxel)
• Anyone transitioning from popular science to more technical material
ARC uses a curated, transparent terminology database written in plain JSON. No user data is collected, no tracking is performed, and no external services are contacted.
The goal of ARC is to build intuition and confidence while preserving the integrity of the original text.
