Now that mrtech tools add-on is dead, this is a must have.
Guys, the version numbering is off; you went from 3.1.7 back to 22.214.171.124 and it doesn't auto-update anymore.
1) Even if one declines to enable Smartlinks, smartlinks.xul is included in skipscreen.jar under the extensions folder in user profile. Inactive, but installed. Who's to say it will not be activated without my permission in a later update, same way it was installed?
2) In order for Smartlinks to appear under Tools menu, one has to enable it first. In other words, the only way to truly remove the installation is to install it first!?
There is no option NOT to install; the only way to avoid the adware is not to install SkipScreen. The answer the developer is giving everyone is unacceptable.
I updated minutes ago to 1.0.4 from 126.96.36.199 and it ate all the older-than-10-days unread posts I was keeping from a wordpress feed. I had the feed set to "do not delete old entries" and the new version ignored it completely! WTF?!?!
For the record, my rating is 0/5 but some weird reason the system won't allow it.
I don't know how the approval team missed this, but this extension attaches porn and gambling ads to the Search Images result page, right on the top. There could be pop-ups too but I'm not risking turning off the various protection measures I use with FF, just to find out.
I urge users to avoid this extension and I recommend immediate removal from the site.
