SimplifyIt AI is a browser extension built and maintained by an independent developer. It is a free tool with no commercial interest in your data.

What We Do
SimplifyIt AI allows you to select any text on a webpage and receive a plain-language explanation of that text, powered by an AI model.

Data We Collect
We do not collect, store, or log any personal data.
The only data processed by this extension is the text you explicitly select and choose to simplify by clicking the "✨ Simplify" button. This selected text is:

Sent to our backend server (hosted on Render) solely to process your request
Forwarded to Groq's API (a third-party AI provider) to generate an explanation
Returned to your browser as a plain-language explanation
Never stored, logged, or retained by our backend or any component of this extension

Data We Do Not Collect
We do not collect:

Your name, email address, or any identifying information
Your browsing history or activity
Any data outside of the text you explicitly select
Cookies, analytics, or tracking identifiers
Data from private or incognito browsing sessions

Third-Party Services
This extension uses the following third-party service to function:
Groq API

Provider: Groq, Inc.
Purpose: Generating plain-language explanations from selected text
Data sent: The text you select and submit
Groq's Privacy Policy: groq.com/privacy-policy

We do not control how Groq handles data on their end. Please review their privacy policy for details.

User Control
You are in full control of what gets processed:

Nothing is sent unless you actively select text and click the Simplify button
You can uninstall the extension at any time to stop all data processing
No background data collection occurs at any time

Children's Privacy
This extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children.

Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the "Last updated" date above will be updated. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
