Over deze extensie
Blur Text hides secrets on any web page so you can screen share, teach, or record without exposing them. Blur every occurrence of a string or a regex, or point at an element once and it stays hidden every time you come back to that page.
WHAT IT DOES
• Text rules — blur a literal string, or a regular expression, everywhere it appears. Matches are found in text added later by JavaScript, inside open shadow roots, and in the values of input fields.
• Element rules — press Alt+Shift+B, click the thing you want hidden, and it is remembered. Blur Text works out a durable path to that element and hides it on every future visit. Arrow keys widen or narrow the selection while you are picking.
• Built-in patterns — one-click regexes for the common credential shapes: OpenAI and Anthropic keys, AWS access key ids, GitHub tokens, Google API keys, Slack tokens, JWTs, Authorization: Bearer headers, private key blocks, email addresses. Because these match on shape, you never have to paste your real key into the extension to hide it.
• Two styles — a blur, or a solid block. Use solid blocks when you are recording rather than presenting live: blur can be partially recovered from a high quality recording.
• Scopes — apply a rule everywhere, to one site, or to a single page.
• Fast controls for live use — Alt+Shift+X turns blurring on and off, Alt+Shift+R temporarily reveals everything in the current tab so you can check a value mid-lesson. The reveal is per-tab and resets on reload, so you cannot leave yourself exposed by forgetting to switch it back.
• Right-click anything and choose "Blur this element on this site", or select text and choose "Blur … everywhere".
PRIVACY
Blur Text has no servers and makes no network requests. Your rules and settings are stored locally in your browser and are never transmitted anywhere. There is no analytics, no tracking, and no remote code — all of the extension's JavaScript ships inside the package.
WHAT IT IS NOT
This is a visual guard, not encryption. Blurred text is still present in the page, in view-source, and in the DOM, so anyone with access to your machine or the page's source can still read it. Blur Text stops a secret from being on screen — that is what it is for.
