- Vurdert til 5 ut av 5av Firefox-bruker 12382499, 6 år sidenI've used this add-on before, given recommendations previously sometime during its early days and I'm back for the same reasons of use. This add-on does exactly everything I need it to do - and now that I look at all the new features - tons of stuff I won't need to utilize (that could be useful in the future however). I can't thank you enough for this add-on, it really is a GEM.
The workaround required to access directories outside of the downloads path isn't a problem and I can't criticize you for FF's shortcomings.
It's really a great feeling seeing how far this project have come, good-luck in the future, I will certainly keep using this a lot in my daily routine. - Vurdert til 5 ut av 5av Firefox-bruker 14264273, 6 år sidenFor years I used 'Save file to' to sort my porn. I liked it because I could have my porn on a thumb drive and when it was removed the links disappeared removing all evidence of my porn collection.
Nowadays I have a more private setup and don't care so much about that but when Firefox upgraded and 'Save file to' stopped working I missed it. I tried this extension but it wouldn't save outside my Downloads directory. I looked into creating a replacement, but discovered why: The new security model doesn't allow saving outside Downloads directory. So I say whatever, I'll save all my porn into incoming folder and sort later. I still missed the uniqueify functionality though.
In the meantime I create a bunch of scripts to make sorting/tagging easier. https://pastebin.com/u/ukaran. Regret this functionality couldn't be somehow integrated into a save file to extension - maybe with p2p sharing to make a distributed imagefap.com...
Then I think - wait! I can put a symlink in my Downloads folder to my incoming folder and get back the uniqueify functionality.
When I come back here to re-download this extension I see that technique mentioned in the instructions.
Should have thought of it earlier..

- Vurdert til 4 ut av 5av tombones, 6 år sidenA huge relief to have a functional version of this essential feature in the new Firefox. The only piece missing from similar legacy extensions (unless I'm missing something) is the ability to nest a group of folders in a submenu. One of the main places I use to sort images has 20 subfolders, and listing all those on the main level of the menu would be impractical. Right now I'm just holding shift & opening the save dialog for that folder to choose the subfolder I want, but being able to nest the menu (assuming it's possible with webextensions) would help a lot. Adding some kind of character that could designate a specific folder as "always open the save dialog" (regardless of shiftkey) would be handy too. Thanks for developing this, keep up the great work!

- Vurdert til 5 ut av 5av tookie-lookie, 6 år sidenBesides several minor issues, caused primarily by the FF architecture itself, this addon is just awesome. AWESOME.

if no extension, I can set it Automatically! - Vurdert til 1 ut av 5av alexbo, 6 år siden
- Vurdert til 5 ut av 5av thugcee, 6 år sidenWorks like a harm, easy to use and efficient. It saves a LOT o my time. Thank you very much! There should be 6 stars for superhero add-ons and "Save In" deserves it.
- Vurdert til 5 ut av 5av waifu, 6 år sidenIt is so UNFAIR that some people complains about symlink.
It is TOTALLY FireFox's fault for adding such restriction in WebExtension since 57. Please go give FireFox 1 star instead of the addon. FireFox just need to 'fix' it.
The restriction is really silly, if an extension can fudge a web page and lure you to download a virus, why not letting a legit extension to access file system for productivity!
That aside, I can't or don't know how to save link target of an image link instead of the image, is it not supported? - Vurdert til 3 ut av 5av alexg, 6 år sidenneed a savelink extension functionality, since that one is dead (save url of the page as an .url file in a predefined directory with predefined filename pattern, with a single button click)
- Vurdert til 2 ut av 5av Lou Pratt, 6 år sidenToo complicated. Maybe advanced users will have an easier time with this add on, but it's not for coding illiterates like myself. With unclear directions, this add on is unusable,
- Vurdert til 5 ut av 5av Firefox-bruker 13679228, 6 år sidenFinally an extension like this! Incredibly helpful to save pictures/files in different folder without having to spend the time to choose the folder or reorganize the download folder every time. Thank you!
- Vurdert til 3 ut av 5av zakgj, 6 år sidenFor saving out of the default (on Windows) you can use application called "Link Shell Extension" a graphical mklink install then on the target directory right click & chose "pick link source" then right click on default directory & chose "Drop As.." & chose symbolic link or Junction then you will have the target directory in the default directory & the directory name to "Save in" setting.

You need Administrator right - Vurdert til 2 ut av 5av mrbunnylamakins, 6 år sidenI sat here for over 6 hours trying to get the code you provided to work. Unless you show Screen Capture of how to use Download folder to mklink /j to another drive folder and a actual working code that does not give red errors like "mklink /D C:\path\to\symlink D:\path\to\actual" I know mklink /j \default_download_dir is right, because C:\Downloads does not work. Plus Everything on internet says you have to do this Admin Command Prompt. Which I got to work. Question remains since you do not show or produce no REAL example of how to display such in on SaveIn Menu . Sure I can Create many new folders in Download folder but What I save I do not want in the download folder. I am not one who needs to Save things to Newly Created folders. I can understand adding Existing folders to SaveIn.
C:\Downloads > D:\ Picture Folder
"A symlink is needed to save outside the default download directory" ....
(mklink /j \default_download_dir D:\Picture_Temp\New_Sort_Temp ) ERROR.
(mklink /j \default_download_dir \Picture_Temp\New_Sort_Temp ) ERROR.

Example:
mklink /D "C:\Users\\Appdata\Local\Plex Media Server" "G:\Plex Media Server"
