Stopped working for me

It works until it doesn't. I found exactly the same as many other reviewers: this add-on has a lot of great features, and it works well... until it doesn't. In my case, I observed a lengthy operation on Firefox's part (as Firefox is wont to do). That operation never let go... and Firefox crashed. On restart of Firefox, the Private Bookmarks password failed to work. Another restart, still no working password. As great as this add-on is, it has code that allows passwords and user access to get lost -> quite commonly, from all the reviews here. I highly recommend it, but only if you're using it for temporary or short-term bookmarks; it's simply not reliable enough for long-term use.

It worked great for months until it didn't.

I'm not sure what broke it but possibly my MacOS upgrade to 14.6. Suddenly Firefox wouldn't respond to the Shift-Option-8 hotkey, which is where you enter your password.

I tried reinstalling the add-on, rebooting, etc. Unfortunately, it's evident that I also lost all those private bookmarks in the process, which weren't so much private but archived in Private Bookmarks so they wouldn't be accidentally deleted.

I filed a bug report with the developer last week but I haven't received an acknowledgement of it and the bug hasn't been assigned.

This stopped working after the latest FF update. Password does not unlock bookmarks. Broken and abandoned extension by the dev.

I have used this addon for 4-5 years without a hazzle. But this morning it stopped accepted my password... Luckily I make weekly backups of the mozilla folder so I still have access to my hidden links.

Its good but i wish i could just make a folder and be done with it

Hey Danny Champ, you're a fool. Addons don't have access to your Mozilla Firefox profile. "Private Bookmarks" only puts your passwords locally on one device! )))

There may well be a private folder, hidden behind a password on my PC. However, on my linked phone and tablet, the sites are visible, WITH NO PASSWORD!! For anyone to see!!
I urge you not to use this addon
