Tule Reeds In Winter by Lomatium
Tule (Schoenoplectus acutus) along the Columbia River in winter. These reeds were used extensively by Indians for mats and the outside covering of houses. Since the building of dams there are very few places along the river with these reeds, as the old riparian areas that they grew so well in were flooded.
