YouTube Timeout puts a small, honest speed bump between you and YouTube.

Every time you open YouTube in a tab, you'll wait through a 5-minute lock screen before the page loads. Once you're in, a 30-minute usage clock starts running in that same tab — when it runs out, you're locked out again for another 5 minutes, automatically, whether or not you were paying attention.

Close the tab, or navigate away from YouTube, and that tab's session is wiped. Coming back — in a new tab or the same one — starts the 5-minute lock over from scratch. Each tab tracks its own timer independently, so having several YouTube tabs open doesn't let you dodge the clock by switching between them for free.

This is a soft commitment device, not a hard block — it's meant to interrupt autopilot scrolling, not police you. You can disable it at any time from about:addons.

No data is collected, stored remotely, or transmitted anywhere. Everything runs locally in your browser.
