I am using YouTube since its first release in 2004 and have something like 600 subscriptions. I realised that I was constantly overwhelmed by notifications because every day a bunch of new videos would be released. Tonight I was bored and wanted to mess a bit with a good old JavaScript to make it so I could update all those channels notifications to "don't bother me please" as my home feed page will still show me the new videos anyway.
Then, I thought, maybe I would want to restore it to "all" or "personalised"... so on and so forth, here we are.
This extensions is quite simple, it just iterate through the subscription page (https://www.youtube.com/feed/channels) and behave as if you were clicking each channel "subscription" button and change it to what you want. You can run a test first to see if it's messing up anything.
It's written with some Claude assist because I work as an IT engineer since I was 19 and now I am fucking old and have zero interest in coding after a full day of doing it for someone that pays me.
If you don't trust it, there is a repo with the source code and you can also just take the script stand-alone and run it in your browser console. The extension is just an easier way for the less tech savvy.
