UrTube remembers every YouTube video you watch and keeps your subscriptions, home page and playlists tidy – so you always keep track of what you have and haven't watched.
Why UrTube?
- One add-on instead of several: marking, tidying up subscriptions, playlist progress, statistics and player settings share one database.
- Light on YouTube and your browser: watched videos are hidden before they appear, and a time window per page keeps YouTube from loading older and older videos endlessly.
- Easy to switch: brings along your history from YouTube Watchmarker and Google Takeout.
- Actively developed by a power user who uses it every day – your ideas go straight into the next version.
- Clean, modern design in light and dark.
What it does
- Records every video you open – with date, progress and rewatches; continuing a video later counts as one view. Optionally also YouTube's red progress bar, your Firefox history, your YouTube history (also from phone or TV) and music on music.youtube.com.
- Marks watched videos everywhere, even at the end of a video: faded, black-and-white or with a “✓ date” badge. An eye button marks or unmarks by hand.
- Hides watched videos with one switch in the YouTube header – before they even appear – in subscriptions, on the home page and channel pages (each with a time window), in playlists, search and recommendations. One switch for everything or one per area.
- Content filters for subscriptions: Shorts, premieres, live streams, members-only videos.
- ⊘ hides videos, playlists or whole channels you're not interested in – without counting them as watched.
- Channel pages show how much of the channel you have watched: videos, Shorts, live streams and playlists.
- Playlist progress (“12 / 23 watched”); finished playlists can be hidden.
- Searchable history with filters (continue watching, length, date range, origin …) and CSV export.
- Statistics: time watched, streaks, categories, all your channels and subscriptions with your share, and a year in review.
- Imports your full history from Google Takeout (with exact times) and from YouTube Watchmarker – nothing is counted twice.
- Cleans up “Watch later”, big player, preferred resolution, speed and subtitles, quiet channel trailers, live chat hidden on request.
- English and German, light and dark design, backup with restore or merge (e.g. to bring your data to another computer).
Privacy
All data stays in your Firefox profile. No server, no account, no analytics. UrTube only talks to youtube.com, the same way the site itself does.
