Timeless is a local-first research and writing environment designed around the recursive nature of research.

Writing often exposes a gap that sends you back to a source, note, citation, reference, or earlier section. What you find changes the draft, and the cycle begins again. Timeless keeps those parts of the process in one workspace so moving between research and writing requires less context switching.

Timeless includes:

• A rich-text writing environment with an H1–H5 structural outline
• Integrated sources with per-source evidence notes
• Manual source entry across 37 bibliographic source types
• APA, MLA, and Chicago Author-Date citations and references
• Source-backed and manually editable citations
• Tables, figures, page breaks, document layout, and APA front matter
• Native .timeless.xml documents with local browser recovery
• Direct PDF export without routing through the browser print interface
• Light and dark themes, find and replace, document zoom, and writing statistics

The Firefox edition stores document recovery data locally using browser storage and requests no browsing or host permissions.

Automatic DOI, ISBN, PMID, arXiv, and URL metadata lookup is available in the Windows edition but is not included in the Firefox extension. Sources can be entered manually in Firefox.

Timeless does not require an account or cloud workspace. Your document structure, sources, notes, and citation data remain part of the local Timeless document and browser storage.
