StarHater hides bias-inducing engagement signals — star counts, like counts, fork counts, repost counts — so you can judge content on its own merits instead of by the crowd.

Built-in presets cover GitHub, GitLab, X, and Twitter. You can also add your own rules for any site through the popup, using a URL pattern and a CSS selector. The extension only requests host permission for sites you explicitly opt into.

How it works:
- Hides matched elements with visibility: hidden, so page layout stays intact — no shifted columns, no reflow surprises.
- Re-applies on single-page-app navigation (pushState, replaceState, popstate, hashchange), so the counts stay hidden as you click around.
- Injects a single <style> element per page. Nothing else touches the DOM.

Privacy:
- No analytics, no telemetry, no remote servers, no remote code.
- The only data stored is your own rule configuration, kept in your browser's sync storage. The author never sees it.
- The extension never reads page content; it only injects CSS.
