SoundSilo does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any data. Everything it does happens entirely on your computer.

WHAT SOUNDSILO PROCESSES, AND WHERE IT STAYS

To do its job, SoundSilo works with the following information — all of it locally, on your device only:

• Download details (file names and the addresses of pages you download from on music/SFX library sites), written to a log file (a CSV) either inside your Downloads folder (Chrome) or wherever your browser's own download settings place it (Firefox).
• Your settings (project names, tracked-site list, folder name preferences), stored in the extension's local browser storage.
• Links on library site pages: at the moment you download a track, SoundSilo may read the address of that track's page from the site you are viewing, so your log can record the specific track rather than a generic search page. It reads link addresses only — it does not read, modify, or store page content.
• Bundled cue-sheet metadata: when a site's zip download includes a metadata file (track title, composers, publishers, ISRC), SoundSilo reads it directly off your own disk — on Chrome, automatically via a hidden helper page after the zip finishes downloading; on Firefox, only when you manually pick the file yourself, since Firefox doesn't let extensions read local files any other way — and adds that information to your local log. The zip's contents never leave your computer at any point in this process.

None of this information ever leaves your computer. SoundSilo has no servers, no analytics, no accounts, and makes no network requests.

PERMISSIONS

SoundSilo requests access to certain music/SFX library websites solely to read track page links at download time, as described above. When you choose to track an additional site, your browser asks for your permission for that specific site; declining does not affect any other feature. On Chrome, reading bundled zip metadata additionally requires the "Allow access to file URLs" setting to be turned on for SoundSilo — without it, zips are still routed and logged normally, just without the extra per-track metadata rows.

CHROME VS. FIREFOX

The information SoundSilo processes is identical on both browsers. Chrome lets extensions choose where a download saves, so SoundSilo files tracks into organized folders there. Firefox doesn't provide that capability, so on Firefox everything is fully logged but saved wherever your normal Firefox download settings send it. Reading a
