RevertIt Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 16, 2026
RevertIt is a local-first browser recovery extension designed to help users recover work typed into websites and restore browser workspaces after accidental deletion, reloads, crashes, or restarts.
LOCAL-FIRST PROCESSING
The current RevertIt release does not use a RevertIt account server, advertising SDK, third-party analytics SDK, hosted AI service, or billing backend.
Recovery checkpoints, settings, workspace information, and diagnostics are stored locally using Firefox extension storage.
WEBSITE CONTENT
RevertIt requires access to ordinary HTTP and HTTPS pages so it can detect changes in eligible editable fields and create recovery checkpoints.
RevertIt is designed to save fields only after the user changes them from their initial value. Untouched prefilled fields are not intended to be stored.
SENSITIVE INFORMATION
RevertIt is designed to exclude fields that appear to contain sensitive information, including:
• Passwords
• Payment-card numbers
• CVV/CVC/security codes
• One-time passwords and authentication codes
• API keys, private keys, and secret keys
• Seed or recovery phrases
• Fields explicitly marked to be ignored by RevertIt
Sensitive-field filtering is defense in depth and depends partly on how websites identify and label their fields. Users can disable RevertIt protection for individual websites.
WORKSPACE GUARD
When Workspace Guard is enabled, RevertIt can locally store ordinary HTTP/HTTPS tab URLs, page titles, and browser workspace layout so users can resume work after an interruption.
DIAGNOSTICS
RevertIt can maintain a bounded local diagnostic log containing technical information used for troubleshooting. Diagnostics are designed not to include recovered field values.
Diagnostic information may include items such as hostname or page identifiers, field labels, field counts, save timing, storage usage, restore results, and technical error information.
Users can clear or export diagnostics.
BACKUPS
Users can explicitly export a RevertIt backup containing locally stored settings, recovery checkpoints, and workspace checkpoints.
Exported backup files are not encrypted by RevertIt and should be treated as private files.
DATA TRANSMISSION
The current RevertIt release does not intentionally transmit recovered draft values, workspace information, or diagnostic logs to RevertIt or third-party analytics or advertising services.
If future versions introduce cloud synchronization, accounts, billing, hosted AI, or other remote services, this Privacy Policy and applicable browser-store disclosures will be updated before those features are enabled.
RETENTION AND DELETION
Recovery history is subject to RevertIt's configured retention and browser-storage limits. Users can delete checkpoints, delete recovery history for individual pages, clear saved data, clear diagnostics, and exclude websites from protection.
Removing RevertIt may also remove extension-local data maintained by Firefox.
SECURITY
Firefox extension-local storage is not an encrypted vault. RevertIt should not be treated as protection against someone who already has access to the user's device or Firefox profile.
LIMITED USE
RevertIt uses information accessed through browser permissions only to provide and improve its disclosed browser recovery and workspace-recovery functionality.
RevertIt does not sell user data or use it for advertising, data brokerage, creditworthiness, lending, or purposes unrelated to RevertIt's single purpose.
