Export to CSV when you request it
That’s it. Your data is yours.
Data You Provide
When you click "Capture" on a job posting:
The add-on reads only the current tab you’re viewing
It extracts job details from that specific page
It stores that information locally
Nothing is sent anywhere
Third-Party Access
JobCapture does NOT:
Share data with third parties
Sell your data
Use your data for advertising
Track your behavior
Send data to analytics services
We cannot access your data because it does not leave your device.
Permissions Explained
JobCapture requests permissions to perform the functions described below. The exact permission names may vary slightly by browser, but the behavior is the same.
Access to the active tab / current page (e.g., “activeTab”)
Why: To read job posting information from the page you’re currently viewing when you click "Capture"
What it does: Allows the add-on to access the content of the currently active tab only when you initiate capture
What it doesn’t do: Does not allow background tracking or automatic access to unrelated tabs without your action
Local storage (e.g., “storage”)
Why: To save captured jobs on your device
What it does: Stores your job data locally using the browser’s extension storage
What it doesn’t do: Does not send data to external servers
Page scripting to extract job details (e.g., injected scripts or content scripts)
Why: To extract job details from web pages
What it does: Runs code on the current page to find job information only when you click "Capture"
What it doesn’t do: Does not run automatically in the background; does not track you across pages

Technical Details
For transparency, here’s exactly how data flows:
You visit a job posting → No data collected
You click "Capture" → Add-on reads the current page only
You review and save → Data stored in local extension storage on your device
You view tracker → Add-on reads from local storage
You export CSV → Data formatted and downloaded to your computer
You uninstall → The browser removes the add-on’s locally stored data
At no point does data leave your device.
Transparency Note
While JobCapture’s code is not currently open source, you can inspect installed add-ons using your browser’s extension/add-on developer tools to verify our privacy claims.
Summary
We don’t collect your data because we never receive it. Everything stays on your computer, and you’re in control.
