Although the viewport reported is not accurate, I LOVE being able to smoothly change the browser dimensions via keyboard. It's really useful to me, as I do responsive web design and need to catch the breakpoints.
I would suggest the author, however, to change the key combination [ALT-LEFT] and [ALT-RIGHT] to something else, because it conflicts with browser's keystrokes for going back and forth through user's navigation history. Currently, in order to avoid that key collision, we have to open a page on a clean tab (with no navigation history).
Thank you so much!
If you have an open Firebug pane on the right or left the pixel dimensions reported by this addon reflect the whole browser rather than the relevant viewport.
After update to FF29, there are some problems: detecting window's dimensions freeze after pc go to standby and it does not run anymore until FF restart. With older firefox versions there were not this problem.....
All we need. Maybe one other idea ;) Quick cycling through a set of predefined window sizes? A few I think of: mobile phones are 1280x720 or 1920x1080 or 800x600. Alt-End or for Landscapes and Alt-Home for portrait or something?
Edt: installed it. But your display does not update height. I use "1280x768" in top right corner. (dont need the "px" .. that I know;) )
A simple extension that should get the job done for most people.
However, I use TabKit 2nd Edition to put my tabs on the side, the width shown on the toolbar only shows the width of the window instead of the width of the current document minus scrollbars (document.body.clientWidth).
The Alt+Left/Right window resizing shortcut keys are still useful though.
I'm impressed that this seems to take into account the scroll bar; that is to say, the number is exactly the page width sans scroll bar. Everything else I've used so far gives me the width including the scroll bar, and that is not useful. Thanks for this simple yet effective tool!
Quite good. But had the similar problem with the incorrect count :-(
A good start to the plugin! I happen to use the alt + left & alt + right to quickly fly through my browser history. It would be nice if the plugin were able to either allow the user to customize the keys or use key combos that aren't existing defaults.
Thank you for your interest in the extension and for taking time to write a review!
Adding the ability to customize the keyboard shortcuts are definitely on the todo list!
This is a helpful feuture, to make it much better i would like to see a dropdown with template widths. Ipad, Ipone, 800, 1200 etc.
Thank you for your review! The simple reason to why there isn't a list of pre-defined devices is that there simple are too many devices to cover them all. I felt that either I had to include all of them or none of them. But if you would find it useful with a list of template widths there are a lot of other extensions that does this already (for example: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/firesizer/).
Handy way to find breakpoints. Works as intended in Mac OS 10.7.4 with Firefox 13.0.1.
