DownThemAll! was created by Federico Parodi and Stefano Verna in 2004 as a mass downloader: we needed something to quickly download a bunch of files, and we wrote it. Due to its unexpected popularity the project grew, becoming a download accelerator as well. It entered the list of the top 10 most downloaded extensions and it received good reviews by many prestigious magazines all over the world.
In 2007 Nils Maier, after many contributions, joined officially the team.
DownThemAll! is now part of the recommended extensions on addons.mozilla.org. With 35 million downloads and currently about 2.5 million daily users it is still one of the most popular addons in the mozilla universe.
The development of DownThemAll! has always been based on users' feedback: we're keeping this policy on.
DownThemAll! 3.0 will feature some often requested features, such as a download scheduler, a new theme, a new backend to make everything more snappy and advanced download list management/searching/filtering and other usability improvements.
Thanks for your contribution!
