Thunderbird disappears Assegnate 5 su 5 stelle
If you enjoy using Lightning with Thunderbird, don't allow Thunderbird to update. Lightning may not be supported, and your calendar is removed without warning!!
Annoying change of Lightning UI language on each Thunderbird update Assegnate 1 su 5 stelle
The "feature" in the title drives me crazy. After each thunderbird update, I need to re-install Lightning add-on to get back my language.
This is not normally the case. Can you contact support on this issue?

LIghtning - worse with age Assegnate 1 su 5 stelle
Latest Lightning a memory-leaking liability, must disable to keep Win Thunderbird process from steadily consuming increasing & obscene amounts of memory. Hard to know if add-on or Lightning<->Thunderbird interop at fault, but bottom-line is the pair are increasingly unreliable and unusable together.
Lightning Bug Assegnate 1 su 5 stelle
Lightning, I downgrade thee to 1 *
So, I was forced to upgrade to the latest version of Lightning because as is so typical with Mozilla products, something that had been working just fine for quite a long time quit working for absolutely no logical reason.(I've been a Linux user for too many years but every year as Linux distros and Linux apps continue to suck more and more, I'm afraid I am going to have to go back to Microslop so I can quit wasting my time fudging with my computer and get MY REAL WORK done).
So, I update Lightning, fine. Now I am trying to create an event on my calendar that starts at 1300 and ends at 1430. So I enter 1300 in the starting time field and Lightning fills in 2:00 PM in the ending time field. I then change to the ending time field, and enter 1430 in the ending time field, and Lightnining changes the starting time field to from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM. What the heck? I try again, enter 1300 in the starting time field, and it changes the ending time field from 2:30 PM to 2:00 PM. Argh!!!!!! What in the bloody ell is going on? Has some sort of strange new physics arisen in which all events in life must begin and end within exactly one hour?
Long story short, after i resort to the usual G-search for "mozilla thunderbird bug" and "cannot set time more 1 hour", I'm directed to the URL shown below which explains that the new feature, er, bug has an obvious and easy fix.
Now, I've been using Lightning over 5 years, and I don't remember the little "chain link" symbol being in the linked state by default. I've been putting events on my calendar for years without this bug every happening. I am pretty certain this was not the default behavior in prior versions of Lightning, because if it was, then I would have been writing this rant several years ago and I can assure you that today is indeed "now" and not "many years ago."
So, what sort of illogical mindset would consider that setting the chain link symbol to the linked state by default is logical? Its not. Logical. At. All. I would venture to guess that considering all of the events that are set everyday, worldwide, that the majority of them are not exactly one hour in length.
Seriously, how could you possible consider something that is so illogical to be logical. And why would you change it the new release since that breaks the default behavior that long-term users have come to rely upon. Break the frickin link Mozilla Please, for the love of humanity, set the default behavior to be "unlinked".
Why Mozilla, why? Why, why why (holding head in hands, sobbing, tears running onto keyboard, fumbling around on desktop muttering, "Where did I leave that Win 7 disk...?"
Humanity is doomed.
BTW: Here is the link to the bug fix.
I'm sorry this is causing you trouble and thanks for taking the time to write a review. I am not aware that we changed the default there, are you sure you didn't accidentally click the chain icon some time? The setting persists when the event dialog is reopened.
date/time picker changed in latest version Assegnate 3 su 5 stelle
The date/time picker changed in the latest version, and it's for the worst.
There is no more small calendar, only an edit box to type the date and time.
What a usability downgrade!!!
Would like to see a workable date/time picker back please!
Can you contact support about this or file a bug? We didn't remove the calendar from the datepicker, if it is not appearing for you it must be a bug.
Good luck! Assegnate 5 su 5 stelle
I have used TB and Lighting for a very long time. I'm happy, though sometimes it's not all right. Thank you to developers and I wish you a lot of luck in solving "I want it for free and immediately" requirements :)

Since a few months back, the core functions of lightning have been broken for me Assegnate 2 su 5 stelle
Since a few months ago, the Calendar and Tasks menu items under view have been greyed out when I have lightning installed. As a result, I can only see my events in the sidebar view, not as part of a broader calendar. I've updated thunderbird to the latest version, disabled and re-enabled lightning, removed and reinstalled lightning, and nothing has helped. I would like to rate it higher, because for quite some time it did what I needed it to do- but lacking a functional calendar view as such means the addon isn't what I need it to be.

Cannot Import CSV Files Assegnate 3 su 5 stelle
Lightning 5.4 will not import CSV files into Thunderbird 52. I encountered the most verbose and incomprehensible error message ever.
As a test, I manually created some events in Lightning and then exported them as a CSV file. When I deleted the calendar and then tried to re-import the saved CSV file, Lightning would not even import the file it just created!
Had to roll back to TBird 45.8 and Lightning 4.7.8. All is well once again.
This site claims that Lightning 5.4 works with Thunderbird 52.0, but in practice, they do not seem to play well together yet. More work needed.
bug Assegnate 3 su 5 stelle
I've been using lightning for many years now. It is a very nice extension however since few versions the stability of the module is very bad.
I have several calendars but some part of calendars did not appear in thunderbird even after sync....
it is boring
I don't know why but sometimes it works fine and sometimes it bugged
Unistalled in cause of losing events and poor ergonomy Assegnate 1 su 5 stelle
I am so fed up with this module, after months of trying, I uninstall it : so bugged ! I'ts been many times I find myself in front of a "new event" event, days after having reating it, and can't remember what it was ; simply because the soft forgets the title of your event, if tou type and validate too quick. A reminder that reminds you that you have a something to do, without precision, what bitter irony !
Other bug while dragging a border to extend/reduce the length of the event : my mouse gets stuck and starts moving the whole TB window instead of the border of the event.
Focus is delayed, and forgets the first characters you type when you start typing a new title.
Events that spread the whole day, instead of occupying visually the whole column of the day, appear as a tiny little box, lost in the top, making you believe your day is free.
If you create an event, name it, and open it too fast to add a description inside, the title you typed is lost and replaced by "new event"
Ergonomy sucks : never seen much shitty hour selection tool (click on a list ordered on minuter after tthe other !!!) ; unable to type directly text in the details field, when you create the event
Why the helle, when you change by keyboard the starting hour of an event, it changes automatically the ending hour too ?
No way to change quickly the attachement of an event to any calendar : you have to open it and roll the selection box inside it
When you duplicate an event, it assigns it automatically to the first calendar of your list, instead of the calendar onf the duplicated event.
So, too much meetings failed because of the lack of safety of typing ; too much ergonomy failures, manking me too regularly angry. I uninstall this bad tool, and will, as good old times, use my calendars directly in Goolgle calendar.
Thanks for taking the time to mention all the issues, I am sorry you have been experiencing issues. I'd appreciate if you could file bugs on bugzilla.mozilla.org for each separate issue. The product is "Calendar".
Duplicated fields in Event window: Date and time Assegnate 3 su 5 stelle
Just updated Thunderbird this morning. Lightning now presents duplicated "Date" and "Time" fields for start and end of any given event. NOTE: actually, I accidentally downgraded Thunderbird to version 45.7.0, and after fixed that with the correct version 52.0.1. .
Reminders steal focus == BAD Assegnate 3 su 5 stelle
I've been using TBird+Lightning for many years now. I have approx 10 calendars and Lightning's focus stealing behaviour every time it updates the reminder pane is a real killer. Time after time I've been typing away only to find that the reminder pane is up on another monitor stealing all the keystrokes. It is really obnoxious behaviour irritating enough that I am about to give up on it. Too bad because otherwise it is a pretty good calendar program.
Hi Philipp I couldn't see any other way to respond to you other than by editing my comment. Thank you for your response!
I believe no program should steal focus unless it has been authorized to do so by the user - in other words this should be a user option at least in about:config if not in the main UI.
And yes every time the calendar server is queried to refresh calendars focus is stolen and the reminder window is refreshed - been like this as long as I can remember.
Also some people may use the reminders window the way you say but I don't see why I should need to dismiss a reminder until I am ready to? I don't want to have to keep snoozing it, I want it on the screen where I can see what I still have to get through. I only snooze something when it will be hours before I can get to it.
I understand this is annoying if it is stealing focus even though no new reminders are added and we should fix that, but please also note that the reminders in the reminder window are meant to be dismissed or snoozed when they pop up. The focus stealing is on purpose, because you also don't want to have that window be hidden at the bottom and miss a reminder.
Bugs Assegnate 2 su 5 stelle
So much bug...
Behind the times Assegnate 2 su 5 stelle
Doesn't automatically import Google calendars, unlike every other (modern) Calendar application I can think of. Instead, you have to log into your own Google account and search for the correct settings to cut and paste into the correct settings box in Lightning. That might've been acceptable 10 or 15 years ago, but in this day and age Lightning setup is hopelessly outdated and user-unfriendly. Also, it seems every time Thunderbird is updated, Lightning is broken, and users have to wait for an updated Lightning extension to get calendering functionality back. Again, this is just unacceptable. I just can't recommend this extension for anyone but "technical" users and hobbyists who have the time and inclination to faff around. :-(
