Perché QuickPasswords è stato realizzato?
As a developer I have to constantly log on to various test sites, often with a varying amount of logins / passwords. Often it is necessary to get the login / password into a different browser, so the usual way would be to go to tools / options / security / saved passwords, type in the web site name and then click the show passwords button, only to have to again type out the password into the password box.
But also, some shopping sites sometimes have problems finding the correct password from the manager. It always bugged me that I had to do so many steps for an operation that I have to do so frequently. Also I know there are extensions out there that display the password in plain text, but that kind of defeats the purpose, right?
So to take the pain out of password management I created this extension - right click the password (or user) box and select QuickPasswords. There is an option top log in and one to copy the information to the clipboard.
I also added lots of functionality for copying login information into a spreadsheet. The latest feature is one that allows the user to replace one password in many places. This is really important for big corporate sites where the same password / credentials can be stored in many different places - like on my employer's site.
Quali sono le prospettive per QuickPasswords
The log in function will be further streamlined in the future; I want to keep a minimum of going through Mozilla's built in Password Manager as it has a lot of good functionality already built in. (Such as asking for the master password and the filtering functions)
For the future, I am planning new features around backing up / restoring password information to disk.
