i recommend the Add-On "Add to Search Bar" instead.
Just wanted to mention that imdb is NOT NEUTRAL! " In 1998, it became a subsidiary of AMAZON.com who were then able to use it as an advertising resource for selling DVDs and videotapes." source https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Movie_Database
IMDB is the best overall entertainment related information site on the Internet, worldwide. The search works perfectly well. How do I start... there is just so much available on the IMDB site. Virtually everything is hyper-linked and searchable. For what I want to see, it's all free. I can search for a particular show and I may want to find similar shows or find the name of one of the actors. If you're on the movie display, you will see the cast members and then you can see others that had anything to do with the film and its making; release dates around the world, other names the film is called. It will display 12 small thumbnails for "similar" TV shows or movies. Now if you click on one of the cast members or search directly for an actor, the actor's IMDB site will have an historical bio which may include how the actor got started, plans for personal and professional, and famous family members. There is one or two pictures which, if you click, you can see all (that you don't see) the pics as a slide show. The actor will have a list showing virtually everything he or she has ever appeared in, is currently filming, or is going to be filming or appearing in sometime many years in the future. If you watch a moderate amount of television, movies, or like gossip and you are not using IMDB regularly, then you are really missing out, literally. IMDB is just one of my most important sites. Oh, the site also has news, and excerpts from articles from other site related to whatever is on the page you looking at. You can click on "read more" or something like to that effect to link over to the main site with the article. I rarely write reviews and I've spent quite some time trying to review the site because it has "given me" so much that I want to give something back to IMDB. I hope I've done that. I realize this review is about the search so I will copy and paste this over on IMDB.
Usually I have to find information about some celebrities and give my opinion on something connected with the star. I used to search google, bing, yahoo, imdb for all kind of information but with this extension I can see the entire IMDB info and only pick the interesting parts for me.
So, you´re reading an article and it talks about a movie, or a movie star, or a movie character. Or, you see a list of new movies, and don´t know which one to rent/download. And you think to yourself: "I should look this up on IMDB". So you highlight the text, and right-click. Alas, your search box engine was last set to search on google. So now you have to go through google´s results and find the imdb link. Or, if you know you're going to search for a lot of movies, you change the search box to search on IMDB, knowing that you'll have to change it back to Google.
No need for all this. This adds an IMDB search for your highlighted text that is ALWAYS there, independent from your search engine box, available with just a right-click, and one that opens on a new tab.
Select text, and right click, and click search IMDb, easy as pie.
Here's an idea: The search function at IMDb is not as good as Google. So how about making an add-on that adds the user's selection to a Google search: site:imdb.com "movie title gets put here" If someone could do that, then that would open the door for other Google searches as well, such as: intitle:index.of "movie title gets put here" mkv OR mp4 Hmm..
