- Valutata 3 su 5di charlie, un anno faive used this for about a year now and its somewhat okay. its useful for somethings such as changing fonts and its text to speech but so many things are locked behind a paywall it gets a bit frustrating.Hey Charile
Thanks for sticking with us for a year and for your honest feedback. Great to hear you're enjoying the font changes and text-to-speech features!
We've actually beefed up our free plan recently, adding more cool stuff you can use without hitting a paywall (I wish we didn't need a paywall, but need to keep the lights on). We're always trying to make Helperbird better and more accessible, so your thoughts mean a lot to us.
Check out the new features and let us know what you think. Your support is what keeps us flying high!
- Valutata 1 su 5di Joules, un anno faThis doesn't work, I have all the permissions set. The green message "immersive reader" says it is loading, but then nothing, no reading mode... super confused.Hey Joules,
Really sorry to hear about the trouble you're experiencing with the immersive reader feature. It sounds like you've encountered a one-off bug. We've checked things on our end, and it appears to be working smoothly.
If you're still facing any issues, or if anything else pops up, please don't hesitate to shoot us an email at email@example.com. We're here to help and make sure you get the best experience with Helperbird.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention, and we appreciate your patience as we sort this out.
- Valutata 4 su 5di Utente Firefox 14199188, 3 anni faEDIT : the reader fail on some websites with this error : "Sorry, we could not find any text on this page."
This happened on that website and some others :
It works if I select the text before hand tho, is it the intended behavior ?
Finally, I no longer have to use Edge to enjoy the immersive reader ! I'm very grateful for that.
Suggestion : atm it's a bit cumbersome to access the reader tool. Could you do something like what the Text To Speech (TTS) addon does, i.e :
Select any desired text. A play icon appears, click on it to start the voice reading.
Or maybe do what Edge does :
Select the text, then right click and click on "read aloud" in the context menu.
Anyway, thanks again for this addon, I think this will be useful to many.Hey there,
Thank you for your valuable feedback and for using Helperbird over these past years. We're thrilled to hear that our immersive reader has been a game-changer for you, especially as an alternative to Edge!
Regarding the issue you faced with the reader on certain websites, we've made several updates since then. The "Sorry, we could not find any text on this page" error should now be a thing of the past. We've also streamlined the process of accessing the reader tool, making it more user-friendly and efficient, much like your suggestions.
We love hearing how we can make Helperbird better for our users. If there's anything else that comes to mind or if you want to share more insights, feel free to reach out.
Thanks again for your support and suggestions – they really help us improve!
- Valutata 1 su 5di uniquew, 3 anni fa"Access your data for all websites" why need this permission if other text to speech extensions doesn't require it???Hey uniquew,
Thanks for your question about the "Access your data for all websites" permission. We understand your concern, especially when comparing it with other text-to-speech extensions.
This permission, which is actually for the "active tab," is crucial for Helperbird to modify text, fonts, colors, and more on the page you're viewing. We assure you that nothing is sent or collected from your data – your privacy is our top priority.
We appreciate you bringing this up, and it's got us thinking: we're exploring ways to make this permission optional for users who only want to use the text-to-speech feature. Stay tuned for updates on this!
Thanks again for your feedback. It plays a big part in how we evolve and improve Helperbird.

- Valutata 5 su 5di Utente Firefox 16521757, 3 anni faHelperbird does so many things that are game changing for me! By far the two most important are the the font changes and the highlight ruler. I can change fonts to something dyslexia friendly. The ruler helps me stay on the line I'm trying to read. These two things change the blur into words!
It has taken a bit of experimentation, so plan to spend a little time figuring out how to use the features. Tech support has been great when I have had problems!Hey,
We're absolutely thrilled to hear how Helperbird's font changes and highlight ruler features are making a difference for you! Knowing that these tools help transform the blur into words and enhance your reading experience is exactly why we do what we do.
It's great to hear that you've been experimenting with our features – exploration is key to getting the most out of Helperbird. And a huge thanks for the shout-out to our tech support team; they're always ready to assist whenever you need.
If you ever have more feedback, ideas, or need assistance as you continue to use Helperbird, don't hesitate to reach out. Your input helps us grow and improve.
Thanks again for your wonderful review and for being a part of the Helperbird community.
- Valutata 2 su 5di Anh, 4 anni faThe feature I wanted to use the most, the ruler, when enabled would make the web page freeze & I cannot scroll down to read the rest of the article. There should be an option to set multuple rulers in different colours, and more option for heights as well as widths, and options to set the rulers at fixed positions on screen that can be saved & enabled at 1 click. Dyslexia/dyspraxia/dysgraphia & other developmental disabilities manifest differently in different people. I don't mind paying because I really need aid reading, but I don't use all the other features & the one that I really need doesn't work very well. It's a pity.
Replica dello sviluppatorepubblicato il 4 anni faHi Anh,
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, and I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you experienced with the ruler feature. Your insights are incredibly valuable, and we've taken them to heart.
Since your review four years ago, we've completely rebuilt our features, including the ruler, which now operates smoothly without causing any freezing or scrolling issues. We're also excited to tell you that we've implemented your suggestions: the rulers are now available in multiple colors, with adjustable heights and widths, and can be set at fixed positions on your screen. These enhancements are designed to cater to the diverse needs of our users with developmental disabilities.
What's more, the ruler feature is now free! We understand the importance of having reliable tools to aid in reading, and we're committed to making Helperbird as accessible and effective as possible for everyone.
Please feel free to revisit Helperbird and explore the improved ruler feature. We hope it meets your needs this time around. And if you have any more suggestions or need assistance, don't hesitate to reach out at firstname.lastname@example.org. Your feedback is crucial in helping us improve.
Thanks again for your honest review. We hope to provide you with a much better experience with Helperbird.
