FoxTab

Wow Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a top notch addon. Its very smooth, and has a real clean interface. The look is soft, well layed out and uniform.

The animations are very smooth, having just 2 tabs open it runs very quick, and as you add more to it (not sure a number) it can become choppy. Im not saying this is a bug... but I wonder if this is a factor of javascript, the computer, or firefox, and what it would take to improve it. My guess is that its JS performance and FF3.5 will "fix it".

I really love the layouts and animations. They make viewing the tabs clear, accurate and quick. You can quickly see whats available and where you are. I look forward to seeing how the "return to page" animation works out (its experiemental at this point).

The fact that the "page" can be scaled to be the size of the window or shrunk to be large, medium, or small is great... and if you chose a size, it scales it to the size of the window. The author was even smart enough that if the browser window gets resize, the add-on resizes itself -- with an animation on the fly... VERY smart design.

this is great add-on. My only complaint is with the interface:

- the 5 items on the left (FS mode, gear, folder, search, no. of tabs) should match the stuff on the right... thats not only the color, but style.

- A glossy look i think looks better... i know its very cliche... but... it does look nice... doesn't it?

Its worth trying out... and it works good it your a tab fanatic.

Fasterfox Lite

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I think you should at least give USERS the opportunity to use page pre-fetching... at the very least you could add it and either 1) not recommend it (for what ever reason you'd want to stick up for web masters, servers is beyond me, they can upgrade most people can't get better broadband) or 2) make it hard to find for the average user.

taking away options is like going from FF to IE... the power of extensibility should NEVER be limited

other than that, i really like it, and the page timer is good too.

Locationbar²

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I've used it before. I really like it because it really does do a good job of separating the URL so you can easily see where you are (its good to know where you are)...

Not that i rarely get 'lost' on the web, its just useful and makes the URL easier to read.

I gave it 4 stars because it doesn't work with shiretoko 3.5b4pre when it says it'll work with 3.6pre, what the deuce?

Chromifox Extreme Carbon

Pure Stupidity Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This theme looks so smooth, its stupid. I had Firefox 3.1b3, and uninstalled it (not sure why, guess i thought i would wait until it came out).

while looking for add-ons, i came across this. I have used chromifox (basic) before, in fact it was my default, because its very day to day and looks nice. I saw this theme and thought: "well, its the same but darker"

...well, i guess i could get b4pre...

I picked up, it does feel a bit smoother now and installed the theme... my god, what have you done. my only gripe is you should make the circles that spin on page loads quicker and a different color than blue (maybe black).

the options window is themed too, didn't know you could do that... its soo slick... I can't see someone making a theme much better than this.

IE Tab

Why should things like this exist?! Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Personally, I think the idea of IE on FF is stupid, because web developers should care less what browser someone uses... in a "fair and unbiased world" they wouldn't care and would be more concerned with there OWN content. But they do.

Take Microsofts's skydrive site (go figure -- it's Microsofts). For uploading files to the sky drive on FF, you can only upload up to 5 at a time, and you must manually browser for each file, pretty time consuming. BUT with IE you can use the activeX control and drag and drop as many files as you want into "drop box" for you upload, and you can actually see the progress of each file. Clear this is just Microsoft touting how awesome its ActiveX. BTW on FF, you get a flash app that lets you bounce ball while you wait. Im sorry, but I'm not a monkey.

This extension gives you both, you can embed IE into FF and get the advantages (and more importantly, the disadvantages) of running activeX on FF and other IE unique features.

While i have a lot of beef with poor website developers developing sites for different browsers, this extension is designed incredibly well. I gave it 3 stars because well, anything involving IE is less than perfect. Also, it is my opinion extensions like this should not be encouraged, we should be supporting open standards. And lastly, you really are using IE when you use this, that means history, cache, cookies.... security issues.... activeX... scripts... everything that's bad about IE can and will leak through.

Most sites now are not browser sensitive, including Microsoft's... so think it over.

Lastly, other FF extensions don't work while in the IE mode (Fasterfox, Refcontrol) and its worth noting history items may appear in IE's history and not FF (cookies, cahce, history, etc.).
