Good plugin, fix for "freeze" Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I have used this plugin for a while and loved it. However, over the past year it stopped working (though it worked fine in Chrome). It would just freeze up firefox whenever I clicked on the Synchronize button. Anyway the fix was to open up settings, go to advanced tab, and click the "repair" button. I'm not sure what this does but it fixed all my freezing issues. I hope this might help other people as well.
About add-on of Mac " Xmarks". Rated 2 out of 5 stars
Shortcut "shift + command + Y" has ended up competing with shortcuts call of Stickies Note in Mac.
Therefore, we ask you can change to another shortcut, and as can be disabled in the settings for the user.

Agree! A once great extension now buggy and completely unusable Rated 1 out of 5 stars
I have been having Syncing issues for months with both Firefox and Chrome, always using the latest browser updates. I also updated Xmarks to the 'yet to be released' v4.3.2
Yesterday, I tried again to Sync my Bookmarks with Chrome and... IT WORKED. I was very happy, but it was short lived. I have reviewed my Bookmarks and found MANY empty nodes... VERY DISAPPOINTING.
With regards to Firefox, this morning, I decided to disable all of my Firefox Add-ons, except Xmarks... deleted all of my local bookmarks and did a fresh download from the Xmarks server and, lo and behold... IT WORKED, but, I still have many lost bookmarks.
[Xmarks has a conflict with some other Add-On in Firefox; you should know this and do some testing]
To summarize, I started doing an in-depth review of my bookmarks around June 23 2014. That is when I noticed a HUGE amount of Duplicate Bookmarks... SO, I decided to use the Xmarks De-duplication option. This seemed to work, but, as I can see now, it not only de-duplicated my bookmarks, it has also deleted many of my bookmarks. I have the proof in viewing the many backups I have made since June 23 2014. Using an excellent File Comparison program... Beyond Compare... I can see, in hindsight, the gradual loss of my bookmarks as I used the De-Duplication process.
I now have ZERO confidence in Xmarks. In my opinion it is an EXCELLENT concept, but a Broken Program.
In my opinion (and I come from a application testing environment), there is an extreme lack of in depth testing with this product and I cannot leave my hours bookmarking to such a product.

I liked so much Foxmarks, and then Xmarks. Too bad it has become unusable since last year or so. After a particular update (can't remember which) the extension started freezing my Firefox, no matter how many reinstall or updates I made. I kept using it on Chrome. Now, since some months, also Xmarks on Chrome started giving the most diverse problems, from instant freezes to unclickable results in the google research page. I experimented a lot before convincing myself that it was Xmarks alone that caused all that trouble. After waiting so much time for an update that solved this issues, it is with regret that I chose to uninstall it everywhere and to write down this review.Ulasan ini dibuat untuk versi pengaya (4.2.1) sebelumnya.

Get the new version!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
--> The version currently available on addons.mozilla.org is more than a year old! It does not fully support the later version of Firefox. <--
In the last year, *4 updates* have been made available, but they "have not been reviewed by Mozilla", making them invisible in the supported add-ons list.
However, if you scroll all the way down on the Xmarks add-on page, expand the section "Version Information" and click "See complete version history" in the bottom right corner (or just go here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/xmarks-sync/versions/ ), you will see the new versions.
Install the latest one (v4.3.2 at the time of this writing) and your problems will be solved.
It also features a navbar icon to replace the status bar icon (since the newer versions of FF don't have a status bar any more).
I don't know why the new versions of this add-on are not reviewed by Mozilla for over a year now, but they work great.

I had a terrible amount of problems with this addon before I updated it to v4.3.1, available on the Xmarks site. Please take a look at this post to grab the details:
I too, bidding farewell to Xmarks Rated 2 out of 5 stars
What was once great is no longer. The constant lockups (I have multiple browsers across multiple platforms, all doing the same thing), duplicates, triplicates . . . pity, it used to be quite solid. In the end, it is faster and more reliable for me to email myself my bookmark files and use import/export to keep them in sync.Ulasan ini dibuat untuk versi pengaya (4.2.1) sebelumnya.
An old favorite add-on slowly becoming unusable Rated 3 out of 5 stars
Update 6/24/14 . installed the update 4.3.2 and syncs are working again. kinda hard to find the update. will keep using and hope bugs are fixed with use on Firefox 30. Hopefully this will restore 5 star status again.
6/2/14 Today I've come to the conclusion that Xmarks is not working as well as I'd like and therefore I must uninstall it.
Over the course of many months I have accepted recurring failure to automatically sync, it works but requires a lot of hand holding to force overwriting local bookmarks. Lately it's creating duplicates even triplicates of saved bookmarks and I have reached a point of distrust that syncing is working or that links I really want are being saved to the cloud.
With the advent of Firefox 29 and auto sync of many things including bookmarks, I see no reason to keep a partially functional app. Good luck to you and hope you get your issues fixed, you've been a great tool while you lasted.
Works fine with no issues after applying a fix Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Original date of review: August 12, 2013
A few days before I've updated my Firefox from release 3.6.* to 23.
I had similar issue like other users noticed in comments section: slow continuing synchronization with hanging of Firefox.
I've updated manually to the latest 4.2.3 unverified release of Xmarks and the issue didn't resolve.
Than I've decided to start from scratch: backed up my favorites just in case, I've uninstalled release 23 with user profile (all settings) and installed release 25 from Aurora (alpha) channel, then installed Xmarks 4.2.3.
My 1500 bookmarks and a journal for several years have downloaded from Xmarks server to Firefox and now everything is syncing fine for me.
I didn't have any chance to go deeper to find out the root cause of the issue.
I suggest for users experiencing the issue to make forced rewrite of bookmarks in Firefox from Xmarks using corresponding option from Xmarks settings. If it doesn't help, then try to make this manually by deleting favorites, journal, Xmarks add-on with its settings (only for advanced users: you should edit prefs.js in profile) or by wiping every add-on settings by corresponding option in Firefox recovery. This will look like you're installing Xmarks for the first time and everything will be downloaded from their servers. Don't forget to make a back-up.
Also you can try to check the logs of Xmarks sync but I've not tried and I'm not sure you'll find something helpful there but it can be useful if you'll try to reach their support.
Also, don't follow the example of upgrading to Aurora channel, this is just my choice. I'm almost sure that you can get it work with current release without upgrading to Aurora channel, this isn't an option for a regular user unless you want to become a tester or live on a "bleeding edge". Usually things doesn't fixing by upgrading to alpha but breaks a lot instead.
As I noticed before I've a lot of bookmarks and huge journal so the Xmarks for me is the only option because sometimes I need to use all this stuff on other computers with Firefox or in other supported by Xmarks browsers or just to find my bookmarks in web-interface or from the cell phone, so the Firefox Sync isn't an option for me. Browsing of remote tabs is a great feature too! And I'm syncing more than 300 passwords and secure notes by using the LastPass.
Of course I have a premium subscription in bundle for LastPass and Xmarks for $20/y, I can't even imagine how others deal with their web-browser stuff, because I can't live in web without these great services.
Bad part that it's not an open source and you can't use raise your own server to use these services as much as it's supported by Xmarks servers with no option for LastPass at all. I don't like to provide all my data to third-party side.
As I'm the very advanced user I've never been stuck with the issue of loosing my bookmarks for a few years. Sometimes after some Firefox updates it was not working at all but there were no loosing of data for me.
So please consider my excellent experience of long-time usage with huge amount of data.
If you don't have time or knowledge to read the logs and to identify the root cause just start from the scratch. You should ask support only in cases when reinstallation doesn't help or you can't start from scratch or you have found the root cause of the issue.
Of course you shouldn't give 1-star review for this great add-on just because of the reason you can't get with your own PC.
It's impossible to write 100% robust applications.
Firefox is a very complicated web-browser (much more complicated than Chromium), with great ability of famous flexibility you can get a lot of issues and problems. You should be an advanced user to deal with it. This is not a question of quality of extensions, especially for such complicated extensions.
Try Chrome or Internet Explorer instead if you don't know how computers work.
Updating my review:
One more time about hanging of Firefox because of Xmarks sync.
On another computer is the same issue with hanging of Xmarks 4.2.1. Also, I've tried to restart a Firefox and some bookmarks were disappeared.
The cure is: remove Xmarks extension, shutdown Firefox, remove Xmarks extension settings from prefs.js Firefox settings file. Now you can upgrade to the latest 4.2.3 (as of 2-SEP-2013), installation will be looks like from scratch. Don't forget to discard all bookmarks from your Firefox, but select to use server bookmarks. All procedure took 5 minutes for me, no bookmarks lost, painless.
Resolution: buy a Mac if you don't get how to deal with computers, use paid support. And don't place angry reviews if you can't fix your computer.
Updating my review: 17 December 2013
Since that time I've already updated to Xmarks 4.2.4 and Firefox 27, no issues, Firefox 26 (the only available release now) is OK too.
Updating my review: 6th June 2014
No issues on Firefox 29 and even nightly builds of Firefox 31. Remember to use latest versions of Xmarks which can be found under "Version Information -> See complete version history", currently 4.3.1 is available there which was released a year after latest version 4.2.1 reviewed by Mozilla (under big green button "Add to Firefox").

But now its gone stupid. Keeps "repairing" my local bookmarks on the computer - deleting, moving, doubling and even tripling them. Even going onto my xmarks page and removing all, over 5 years worth of backups doesn't work, they come back. Deleting the bookmarks off the page doesn't work.... they come back plus more. Uploading my local bookmarks freezes and then crashes firefox. Sadly after the many years of using xmarks i've been forced into removing it :-(Ulasan ini dibuat untuk versi pengaya (4.2.1) sebelumnya.
