Super time saver! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Every time I wanted to know whether a website, whose login page was over http, was actually submitting my login info over a secure connection or not, I would be looking at the source page. Well, no more! Many a thanks to the author.

Doesn't work on all forms, but sometimes is better than never.

Great extension but unfortunately the latest version (1.7) has a nasty side effect if you have the "Popup ALT Attribute" extension (version 1.3.2009110201) installed at the same time.

In that case the last pop-up box shown seems to be "cached" and it's shown in every place where you stop the mouse, even between different tabs, unless you placed the mouse over another ALT attribute in whose case the pop-up box changes (and is cached too). It even shows a little blank pop-up box if no pop-up box was shown before.

Please, fix it. I like to use both extensons at same time.

Thanks and best regards.

Would be nice to have this updated to the latest versions of FF! Developer info and contact info is useless!

fails in 3.6.x Rated 5 out of 5 stars

it works all the way up to 3.5.9 but not past this.
(I have it working on several systems with 3.5.9)
the 3.6.x install disables it permanently with the enable button greyed out, which means I can't update to 3.6.x

It works fine but please update your extension to work with the latest Firefox Release. Thank you very much!

When I'm not sure, this tells me where I'm going - once the form was encrypted but the target wasn't.

It would help if the submit or hover box was colorized (http yellow, javascript red, https green), or if the submit button itself had a color or icon or whatever.

Also Statusbar... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Good addon, yet since "Status"bar is supposed to be used for Status alerts and notification why not also add Statusbar information in addition to popup Tooltip...

IMHO it'll be far more better...

Would really like check for password field and https Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This extension works well as is. I personally would like more feedback re https. Yes, I know I should be checking the status bar, but what happens is obsessionally a server that is normally https gets mis-configured (automatic updates are a prime source of this) and whoops, what was secure yesterday isn't today.

What I really want is a back-stop. If the form has a password field and the submission isn't https, then some big red lights should go off when I go to click submit (or ideally before, so I don't notice as I'm clicking).

Love It Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Just because the serving page is secure doesn’t mean the data you upload is secure. FormFox lets you know. I always check the “submit” button first. If the link is not secure, I don’t even consider sending sensitive data. The yellow indicator for secure links on older versions was really nice – now I have to read the actual address “https” but at least the info is still there.

Yes the “possible trickery” phrase is a little strange. It means the submit link goes to a different web site than the page can from. Maybe some people would consider a different phrase more accurate. It’s still useful – it clues you in that you might need to read the address more carefully.

It’s a great tool. It allowed me to identify a major bank that asked for my credit card number and was uploading it on an unsecure link - I used the telephone instead.

An interesting idea but a flawed implementation. It says "Warning! Possible trickery" for 80% of forms which makes the warning worthless. It should at least be possible to set a preference to restrict that warning to forms that post to a different site than the one being viewed.

Nice addon. I did not find a plave whre to report bugs so I post them here.

FormFox 1.6.1 does not always show the whole address, check out for example http://www.helsinki.fi/~mjrauhal/lapsiporno.info/pelastakaa-pedofiilit/
(finnish satire-site). When holding cursor over submit it only shows part of the destination address.

Also your homepage does not work, server gives 403.

Good but misleading Rated 3 out of 5 stars

It's high time someone helped out folks who don't want to look at the status bar. But the "possible trickery" prompt can be very misleading.

I have several forms on my website and ALL of them have javascript that validates the forms. None of them do anything to the data. It isn't "processed" in any way. And, frankly, even if it is processed, how can that make it "trickery?". The site is secured with SSL. So it's encrypted. If you trust the site well enough to enter your information the "possible trickery" prompt is meaningless and will make many people balk at submitting the form when all that's happening is validation of the data they entered (as in making sure there is nothing but numbers and "-" in a phone number).

A new version needs to be created that explains what "possible trickery" means or just remove that. The main thing is that the data will be submitted via an https rather than an http action. You can lose the coloration, too. Isn't the balloon enough?

Good idea, but I don't like the new features. Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Security-conscious web users (should have) learned long ago to check the status bar for the target when clicking a link, and thanks to Formfox, this is now also possible for form submit buttons.
I don't particularly like the other functions this add-on provides, though (which were added in later versions, IIRC). The 'possible trickery' prompt, which is usually a false alarm to begin with, is obtrusive because it pushes the tooltip beyond the maximum display length, obscuring part of the URL and making the add-on effectively useless. Also, I don't like the look of the yellow-for-SSL function and I don't feel I have a need for it.
My suggestion is to change these indicators to less obtrusive small icons and/or making the add-on configurable so unwanted functions can be turned off.
