Trackkr Browser Extension Privacy Policy

The Trackkr browser extension records active-tab activity for the user who installed it. It works only with a Trackkr daemon (trackkrd) running on the same computer.

Data It Handles

For each active, non-private web tab, the extension handles:

The page URL and title.
The time tracking started and ended.
A random record identifier used to prevent duplicate activity.


The extension also stores the daemon URL and access token entered by the user,
the user's ignored-host rules, and activity waiting for delivery. It sends the
access token to the local daemon as a bearer credential with each status, idle,
or activity request. It does not collect page bodies, form entries, cookies,
search history outside the recorded URL, advertising identifiers, analytics,
or crash telemetry.

The extension does not store or transmit activity from private browsing
windows. Ignored sites are filtered before their activity enters the queue.
Where Data Goes

The extension sends activity only to the authenticated HTTP endpoint of the
Trackkr daemon on the local computer. Its manifest restricts access to IPv4 and
IPv6 loopback addresses and localhost. It does not contact the extension
developer, Mozilla, advertisers, analytics providers, or another third party.

The daemon may forward activity to the Trackkr server configured by the user.
That server and its operator determine storage, retention, and access after the
daemon receives the data. The browser extension neither chooses that server
nor sends data to it directly.

When the dashboard first displays a recorded public site, the configured
Trackkr server may request that site's home page or favicon over HTTPS and
cache the resulting icon. The site or an icon host named by its home page sees
the server's IP address and the hostname requested from it. The request does
not include the recorded page path or the browser extension's access token.
Local Retention

Settings and pending activity use Firefox's local extension storage. The queue
holds at most 500 records and discards records older than 14 days. Accepted
records leave the queue. Firefox normally preserves local extension storage
when updating the extension and removes it when the extension is uninstalled.
User Control

The user chooses whether to install the extension and accept Firefox's required
data-collection permissions. The user must separately enter a daemon token and
grant access to the configured loopback address before transmission starts.

The settings page can exclude sites from tracking. The user can stop all
collection by disabling or uninstalling the extension, or stop delivery by
revoking its loopback host permission.
Changes

Material changes to the data handled or its destinations will appear in this
policy and in the extension's Firefox data-collection declarations before the
changed version is published.
