Fettle per Mei

Some websites are cluttered. Some have text too small to read comfortably.
Some have a banner that will not go away. Fettle lets you fix them yourself,
by pointing at what bothers you and clicking. No CSS. No code. Nothing to
learn.

Hide things. Point at anything — a banner, a sidebar, a box you never
read — and click it. It goes, and it stays gone the next time you visit.

Colours. Fettle reads the colours the page actually uses and shows them
to you. Tap one, pick another. If your choice would make the text hard to
read, it says so in plain words and offers to fix it.

Light or dark. One tap builds a dark version out of the site's own
colours, rather than inverting everything and hoping. On a site that is
already dark, the same button offers you light.

Text. Three one-tap looks — Reading, Easy on the eyes, and Compact — or
set it yourself: nine typefaces for headings and body separately, then size,
line spacing, letter spacing, line length, thickness and alignment.

Line length is the one nobody else offers, and it matters more than font size
for comfortable reading.

Layout. Widen the text, narrow it, drop to a single column, hide the
sidebar, or stop the header following you down the page.

Shape. Click any box and drag its padding, its corners, and its width.

Everything is undoable. Every change is listed in plain words and can be
removed on its own. One switch turns everything off for a site without
forgetting it. Another forgets the site entirely.

Your changes stay put. Websites rewrite their own markup constantly,
which is why this sort of thing usually stops working after a week. Fettle
remembers what you pointed at, not just where it was, and finds it again when
the site changes underneath it. If it cannot be certain it has found the right
thing, it does nothing rather than guess.

It asks for one site at a time. Fettle requests permission for a website
at the moment you first use it there — never for every site you visit. It
cannot see any site you have not used it on.

It sends nothing anywhere. No accounts. No analytics. No fonts fetched
from anyone else's server. Fettle makes no network requests at all — every
typeface it offers is already on your computer.

Fettle is not an ad blocker. It has no filter lists and blocks no requests.
Nothing is hidden unless you pointed at it and clicked.
