CueMark is developed and maintained by aitji ("CueMark," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how the CueMark browser extension (the "Extension") handles information.


CueMark is designed to work locally in your browser. The Extension:

• does not require an account;
• does not contain advertising or analytics;
• does not sell or monetize personal information;
• does not operate a developer-controlled server that receives Extension user data;
• does not send saved comments, settings, or browsing history to us;
• does not make external network requests for its features; and
• stores video timelines only when local video storage is enabled.

CueMark reads YouTube page content locally so you can select timestamped comments and display them over the matching video moments.



The Extension reads visible YouTube comment text to detect timestamps and add CueMark controls. When you select a comment, the Extension may locally store:

• the displayed commenter name;
• the selected comment text;
• timestamps found in that comment; and
• identifiers used to keep several saved comments distinct.

This processing occurs in your browser. CueMark does not transmit raw comment text or saved comments to us or to another service.


CueMark reads the active YouTube tab and current watch-page information needed to operate, including the video identifier, displayed video title, URL state, and playback time.

The popup uses the active tab to determine whether a supported YouTube video is open and to show timeline counts for that video. CueMark does not create or retain a general history of websites you visit.


CueMark may store the following information using browser extension storage:

• Extension settings and appearance preferences;
• YouTube video identifiers and displayed titles;
• selected comment authors, comment text, and timestamps;
• local creation and update times used for cleanup;
• the saved-video index and storage statistics; and
• temporary state needed to operate the current timeline.

This information remains in your browser and is used only to provide CueMark's features.

You can disable persistent video storage. When disabled, CueMark discards saved video timelines after showing a confirmation and offers an export option when stored videos exist.


When you export a backup, CueMark creates a JSON file containing supported settings and saved video timelines. The file is written to your device only after you choose to export it.

When you import a backup, the selected file is read and processed locally by the Extension. Imported video timelines are merged with compatible locally stored data. CueMark does not upload import or export files.


CueMark itself does not make external network requests. The YouTube page continues to communicate with YouTube and other services as part of normal website operation, but CueMark does not add saved comments or Extension settings to those requests.


CueMark requests limited browser permissions for its user-facing purpose:

• Storage: save settings and optional video timelines locally;
• Active tab: identify and communicate with the current YouTube video when you open the popup; and
• YouTube page access: detect timestamped comments and display selected moments on YouTube pages.

CueMark does not use these permissions for advertising, profiling, or unrelated browsing analysis.


Information handled by CueMark is used only to:

• detect timestamps in YouTube comments;
• save comments selected by the user;
• display saved comments at matching playback times;
• show timeline and storage information in the popup;
• apply playback and appearance preferences;
• import, export, clear, and restore local Extension data; and
• maintain the reliability and functionality of the Extension.

We do not use information for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated purposes.


We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise monetize user data.

Because CueMark has no account system, analytics service, or developer-operated data server, we generally do not receive Extension user data and do not disclose it to third parties. Information may only be disclosed if a user intentionally provides it when requesting support, or where required by applicable law.


Locally stored settings and video timelines remain in browser extension storage until they are changed, cleared, automatically removed under configured retention limits, or deleted when the Extension is uninstalled.

You may:

• enable or disable persistent video storage;
• change storage limits and retention duration;
• clear the current video's timeline;
• clear every saved video;
• reset Extension settings;
• export or import supported data;
• clear Extension storage through browser settings; or
• delete local Extension data by uninstalling CueMark.

Destructive actions in the Extension use a confirmation dialog. Where saved video data may be discarded, CueMark may provide an option to export a backup first.

Because we do not maintain user accounts or a developer-controlled database of Extension data, we generally have no user record to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf.


CueMark limits its permissions and data access to those reasonably necessary for its stated purpose. Saved data remains under the browser's extension-storage protections, subject to the security of your browser, device, operating system, and any backup files you create.

No software or storage method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.


CueMark does not download or execute remote JavaScript or WebAssembly. Its executable code is packaged with the Extension distributed through Firefox Add-ons, the Chrome Web Store, or project releases.


CueMark's use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

The Extension uses browser information only to provide or improve its single user-facing purpose. It does not use information for personalized advertising, does not transfer it for unrelated purposes, and does not make user data available for human review except when the user explicitly provides information for support or where permitted by applicable policy and law.


CueMark does not collect or transmit personal data to the developer or third parties. Its Firefox manifest declares that required data collection is none.

Locally stored settings, selected comments, video identifiers, and timelines are Extension data on the user's device and are not sent to us.


CueMark is not directed specifically to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The Extension has no account system or developer-operated collection service and does not attempt to determine a user's age.


We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to CueMark, browser-store requirements, legal requirements, or our practices. Changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this document and, where required, by providing additional notice.
