Politica de confidentialitate pro CaptionCatch
Last updated: 29.08.2026
CaptionCatch ("the extension") is designed to work entirely within your own browser. This policy explains exactly what data the extension handles and what it does not.
CaptionCatch reads the caption/subtitle text already displayed on Netflix and YouTube video pages you are watching, and shows a relevant vocabulary word — its reading and meaning — as an on-screen overlay. All dictionary lookups happen locally using data bundled inside the extension itself.
CaptionCatch stores the following locally in your browser, using the browser's built-in extension storage API:
- Your settings (source language, goal language, difficulty level, overlay position, theme, word frequency)
- Your personal word-review history and word counts
- Your Pro subscription status and license key, if you choose to purchase Pro
This data never leaves your browser and is not accessible to us or any third party, except as described below.
The only network request CaptionCatch makes is a license key verification check to Gumroad's API, and only when you activate a Pro license or during a periodic background check of an already-active subscription. This request sends only the license key itself — never your viewing activity, your word history, your settings, or any personal information. Gumroad's own privacy policy governs data handled through their payment and licensing service.
CaptionCatch does not have its own server, does not use analytics or tracking scripts, and does not use AI or send any content to a third-party AI service.
- Does not collect personally identifiable information (name, email, address)
- Does not collect health, financial, or payment information (payment is handled entirely by Gumroad's own checkout — CaptionCatch never sees your card details)
- Does not track your browsing history or activity outside of Netflix and YouTube
- Does not access your accounts on Netflix, YouTube, or any other service
- Does not modify video playback
- Does not use cookies
You can clear all locally stored data at any time using the "Clear history" option in the extension's popup or dashboard, or by uninstalling the extension, which removes all its stored data from your browser.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted with a revised "last updated" date.
