I use multiple Ad Blockers which run in tandem with Ghostery. Ghostery does its job to a certain degree, buts needs help.

Along with Ghostery I use:
I don't Care About Cookies (Blocks those Pop-Ups asking you to click on accept)

Ad Block-The Best Ad Blocker -That is the actual name – This one blocks 100% of all YouTube ADs. Even the ones that interrupt the videos

Ad Block Plus – Free Ad Blocker – This extension also Blocks YouTube Ads & fights Malware
Ad Blocker Ultimate
Ad Guard Ad Blocker
AVG Online Security
Duck Duck Go Privacy Essentials
Pop-Up Blocker Strict
uBlock Origin

Having all of these extensions running in tandem, provides me a well protected browsing experience.

    For about two weeks embedded 'Youtube' videos will not play on any websites. Filed a detailed report on Ghostery Support Page and have not had any response (That was a huge waste of time!). Worked great for years. Give it another day or two before I completely remove it.

    Ghostery is a great anti-track and anti-ad tool with abundant possibilities to adjust it to your needs. But it works already great just out of the box.
    The support is marvelous.

    unfortunately it no longer blocks adds. Already submitted the screenshots before developer replies asking for them.

    I'm also not buying hiding pause button deep into the settings was requested by users "forgetting to unpause" At least make it configurable?... Especially since there were already options easily accessible for "pause for X minutes" which could've been defaulted, instead of hiding the pause option.

    all in all one of my favourite extensions gone completely now. good job.

    The new v10 is broken, it isn't blocking anything. The new UI doesn't add anything but more clicks. Pause is now buried in a full page settings page that is full of white space and completely unnecessary. The time choice for pause has been removed. Trash update.

    Based on user feedback, usability tests and the redesign, we have moved the global pause button to Settings (accessible from Ghostery panel --> Burger Menu --> Privacy Protection) and have “Trust this site” available and accessible with one click which is scoped to pausing Ghostery on the present site only and for a selected time.
    Many of our users were pausing Ghostery and forgetting to turn back on, so they were unknowingly and unwillingly browsing the web unprotected. We tried to fix that for the user group.

    Regarding "The new v10 is broken, it isn't blocking anything." Can you please send us a screenshot of the Ghostery panel with a loaded website to support@ghostery.com? We would love to help fix this for you.

    Works great, but they have moved pause button to a difficult to reach place making it useless. Please put it back.

    A bit of background for moving the global “Pause Ghostery” button to settings: Many of our users were pausing Ghostery for a specific local and time bound reason and forgetting to turn it on, so they were unknowingly browsing the web unprotected.

    Ever since the most recent update, it's had trouble detecting ads/trackers/etc on some sites. It'll say 'zero' and I'll get in-page popups and banner ads anyway. Also rather dislike that the 'restrict site' option appears to be missing now.

    Probably still good, but they're losing the plot. It's unwieldy to go through the settings and even then you still don't know if the trackers are up to date. I had an account there but I wanted to change the password. Nope! You can change the email but not the compromised password. I tried a new account but some standard symbols aren't accepted. Good luck. I'd rather have the old version.
