Local processing
Typoly offers deliberate misspellings in the text users write and on the webpages they read. It processes text locally in the browser using a packaged dictionary. Writing Assist is enabled by default for new installations and can be turned off with Suggest Spellings. While enabled, Typoly analyzes the currently focused eligible field or Google document and temporarily calculates word offsets and screen geometry for its underlines. A writing suggestion changes text only when the user chooses it.

Page and focused-field text stay in the page's browser context. Typoly does not transmit, log, sell, or persist that text. Active text is held temporarily in memory for analysis and editing, as described below. No language model or remote writing service receives it.

Settings and storage
Typoly stores one settings object in extension storage.local containing:

Whether Typoly is globally enabled.
Independent intensity percentages for Content Optimization and Writing Assist.
Exact hostnames where the user has disabled Typoly.
Whether Writing Assist is enabled through Suggest Spellings.
Selected dictionary languages (English, French, and/or Spanish).
The current hostname is used locally to support the “This site” control. It is stored only when the user chooses to disable Typoly for that hostname.

No browsing history, transformed text, original page text, account information, or personal identifiers are stored. Typoly has no analytics, advertising, remote code, telemetry, or external network service.

No user data is sold or shared with third parties.

Local resources and toolbar status
The typo dictionaries and editor stylesheet are files packaged inside the extension. Typoly loads them locally only when their corresponding behavior is needed. These internal extension requests do not send the page hostname, page text, focused-field text, or settings to any server.

Typoly uses a small event-driven background component (a Chrome service worker or Firefox event page) to keep the toolbar icon synchronized with each tab. The content script reports only one of three visual states: active, inactive, or neutral. The browser adds its standard sender metadata to that internal message; the worker reads only the extension ID, top-frame ID, and numeric tab ID. It never reads the available URL or origin fields. The content-authored payload contains no page text, focused-field text, hostname, or settings. The worker does not store these state reports and makes no network requests.

Settings stay in the browser profile's extension storage and are subject to the browser's own profile and device-management behavior. Users can remove them by clearing Typoly's extension data or uninstalling the extension.
