I had tried one of those "bookmarklets" (a bookmark consisting of a small script) that is supposed to disable the "autocomplete=no" that appears in some forms and allow the passwords entered there to be saved, but I found it didn't always work—some sites apparently worked around it some way or other. For others, Firefox does offer to save it, but the page quickly redirects and the notification bar disappears before you notice it (which might ot might not be true with newer Firefox versions), let alone are able to do anything with it.
I decided that if you can't defeat these pages directly, you can work around them in a place they can't interfere: as an add-on. Of course, I didn't want just a quick-and-dirty solution like the bookmarklet provided, but something that can find other applications. In other words, whatever reason you might have for editing your saved passwords, this add-on should be useful.
Once Firefox 3.6 is no longer supported, I will be trying to convert this add-on to restartless. This might or might not happen, but given that aside from Fx 3.6 users, most people are now using Fx 8.0 and up (at the time of writing this), I should be able to go restartless while still supporting things like locales without hacks.
Speaking of which, more locales are always welcome. See the details page for... well, details.
