Mo Chuid Léirmheasanna

7 Times Faster

No single reason to prefer it over "uBlock Origin" Rated 3 out of 5 stars

First, it's really not a bad extension. But if you use "uBlock Origin", it makes absolutely no sense to switch. This extension uses mainly hardcoded hostfiles-blocking (which is not bad - "uBlock Origin" also uses these type of lists... among others). FYI: Hostfiles uses only domain-specific blocking - a basic thing. But there are no cosmetic filters at all. For me it's not a problem, since I only use very little own cosmetic filters in uBlock Origin. Just speaking for others, who like to use those filters. Furthermore the possibility to block ads, tracking-pixel and scrips for 1-party-sites (the actual site you called) is very low, since it only has a very tiny list (~350 entries). Another thing: There are no options to choose what can be blocked (more filter lists, add own entries or something like an "element picker/ hider"). The user has no insight in what exactly get blocked, unless you study the code of the extension. The only thing you can control is to add a tiny list of "social media" and whitelist the actual domain and/ or page or disable the extension completely. For some folks it might be satisfying - nothing to mess about. The icon badge only gives a counter that something is blocked, but not exactly what is blocked.

It's indeed faster then "Adblock Plus". But that's not really hard, since "Adblock Plus" is technically outdated and is/ was a pure performance break since years. But it's NOT as fast as "uBlock Origin", although it blocks more "out of the box" and has far more possibilities then this extension here. In the end I don't see a single reason to prefer it over "uBlock Origin", because it can do it all and far more (better) then "7 Times Faster". But I do appreciate the work of the developer of this extension. I'm sure there will come some improvements in the future. :-)

EDIT to developers reply:

Hello. I'm not "wrong". I never said that all users want advanced options and want to review application code. As mentioned, that was my own personal opinion only. I just need more informations about the extension with its blocking process. Besides that, in my review I said: "For some folks it might be satisfying - nothing to mess about." So please don't put wrong words in my mouth.

chlorine-http

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Small and simple (as I like it), but a great extension to give attention to non-HTTPS sites. The possibility to switch to HTTPS by clicking the link is also very good. The warning bar is immediately noticeable, but not too intrusive. Bravo!

Youtube Flash Switch

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I had problems with other Youtube Flash extensions in the past, but this one here works without any problems for me and seems to be very lightweight. Great! And thank you very much for fixing the black thumbnails problem.

Old Search Fixed2

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thank you very much for bringing back the good old search bar. Another needed extension for fixing Mozilla's madness.

And thank you for fixing the incompatibility with Firefox v46.

FF 44: New update works Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thank you very much for the new version 3.2.9-compat-fixed (see version history). Works without problems for me on FF 44.

Redirect Control

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Very good and important security extension. It's similar to the redirect function of the good old "RequestPolicy" extension. For users of "uMatrix" I would highly recommend to combine it with this extension, because "uMatrix" is sadly lacking such an important feature. Of course, whatever* you are using, this thing here should be installed.

* For users of the extension "Policeman" The 0.19pre versions https://github.com/futpib/policeman/releases have their own redirect control feature now. So no need here for this extension.

Anyway, thank you very much for this important security extension. It's simple, works really well and without any problems so far. :-)

Log Me In (e10s compatible Secure Login)

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great (and more lightweight) alternative to the known "Secure Login" extension.

I like the big login icon on the page. Perhaps an option to log in with a shortcut would complete this nice extension. I would appreciate it. :-)

EDIT: The dev version with hotkey login works without any problems. Thank you very much for the quick implementation. Great! :-)

Simple Form Fill

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Very minimal and lightweight extension. I like it more than the similar extension "InFormEnter", which I used before. "Simple Form Fill" gives me all what I need - no overload. Plain and simple. Thank you! :-)

tabSizeTooltip

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

For me the best tab memory display. More lightweight than the other known extensions. No graphs, diagrams, etc.... just the plain info, if hovered the tab.

Another well and lightweight developed extension by this great guy. Thank you very much. :-)

Check out his other extensions, which are also very useful.

Plain Text Linker

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Very lightweight extension. Just as I like it. Could be a lighter replacement for "Text Links" for me.

Am I right that it just listen to "click events"? So no page scanning of links like "Linkification" (what I do not want)?

Perhaps a possibility to open the links in a background tab would be great. Anyway, thank you very much. :-)

Auto Unload Tab

Best (and correct) working tab unloading extension for Firefox v29+ Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thank you for this add-on. Works as described - without any problems.

Feature requests:

1. Would it be possible to implement a function to load the whitelisted sites at startup, like it worked with the "UnloadTab" extension till Firefox v28?
2. An option to "bypass cache when restoring a tab", like in "UnloadTab", would be very good.

EDIT (v0.1.6):
2. Thank you very much for implementing this feature so quickly. Works perfectly. :-)

2nd EDIT (v0.1.7):
1. Thank you so much. This new feature works also great and without any probems so far. Happy Xmas. :-)

Policeman

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I'm a keen and long time user of "RequestPolicy". For me one of the most important extensions for Firefox. But this thing here is much more flexible and powerful. To control content types is a great feature. This extension gives great privacy and speeds up the browsing experience. For me the far better "RequestPolicy".

The developer reacts very quick to issues. Within 1-2 days he fixed a problem, which I reported.

Thank you very much for your work to make the web browsing much more safer, faster and enjoyable. :-)

@ Makiwaiba:

To your 3. point: To stack tabs by dragging (like in Opera) change the preference name "extensions.tabutils.dragToStack" to "true" in the "about:config". See here: https://github.com/ithinc/tabutils/wiki/Tab-Stacking-options

Sorry, but I don't know how to contact you. Your extension seems to be stolen. Check this: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/ipfood/

Locationbar³

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thank you for updating this wonderful extension for recent FF versions. This makes navigating so much faster and easier. Works without problems and without the error console entries (from the old original), which confused me a little.

Menu Wizard

Great "Menu Editor" successor Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Finally a successor for the good old "Menu Editor" extension for recent FF versions. And this thing here is much better. The preferences dialog is much better and clearer, where you can remove and move menu items. And the big plus is that you can rename items. That's a very cool feature.

Well done. Thank you very much for developing it. :-)

Menu Editor

@sea: Backup settings Rated 5 out of 5 stars

The settings are stored in the file "menuedit.rdf" in the FF profile folder. Backup the file and copy it back after a new installation. Hope that helps.

Though, a simple export option would be nice, yes.

SimpleBlock

Great, but with problems since FF v27 Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Minimalist, very fast and low ressources. For me the best method to block ads, tracking scripts and other annoying things. Perhaps not for every user. There is no GUI and no subscription lists, like in ABP. Create a file named "SimpleBlock.ini" in the FF profile directory and add your own entries. See the developer's comments for examples.

I prefer this one over the similar add-on "Silent Block", because "SimpleBlock" provides Regex AND indexOf rules. Regex is relative hard to understand for a beginner.

Sadly this add-on doesn't work correctly since FF v27. Example: I use the entries "/twitter2." and "/facebook2.png" in my "SimpleBlock.ini". On the site www.win-lite.de these two entries block the twitter and facebook PNGs on the right side, but it remain two squares with clickable links (to facebook and twitter). In FF v26 and prior versions the blocked elements were completely hidden. See the screenshot: http://abload.de/image.php?img=simpleblock_v26_v27xukj2.png

This problem occurs on every site, where images get blocked. I hope this can be fixed. Thank you in advance.
