posted 5 bliain ó shinGreat idea. I've filed https://github.com/birtles/rikaichamp/issues/104 for this feature. Please feel free to add comments there about the specific reason for wanting this. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15029195, 5 bliain ó shin
- Rated 5 out of 5by leumas1960, 5 bliain ó shinPlease excuse my pickiness as I know you're doing this for free, but if you could change it so that there's a tab (the spaces in the meaning sections are the same as the spaces between the word, reading, and meaning, so Anki sees a ton of useless fields) between the word, the reading, and the meaning sections (when you highlight a word, press c, e), that would make it possible to import from a text file into Anki the entire entry (if you use c, t, it works, but because the reading is formatted "あいうえお" and not "[あいうえお]", it's not usable by the japanese support add-on for Anki, which many people, including myself use).
The reason I want that to work, is because the dictionary in Rikaichamp is likely more accurate for readings, which I can't realistically check in their entirety whenever I'm bulk adding words to a text file, and then Anki.Developer response
posted 5 bliain ó shinYeah, that's a totally reasonable request. Sorry for the delay. (I don't think I got email notification for this review somehow).
Would it work to also just add the [] to the reading in the c, t, version? Feel free to follow-up either on the GitHub issue I created for this: https://github.com/birtles/rikaichamp/issues/97 or on twitter: @rikaichamp - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14534141, 5 bliain ó shinthis is a fucking brilliant add on, cheers to the creator. makes life 400 billion times easier as a pleb trying to study japanese. i use it a lot to read those simple NHK articles (a great resource for anyone who wants to regularly apply their japanese reading skills - https://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/easy/ ). thank you!

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13543121, 5 bliain ó shinSince the last dictinoary update, proper names are now showing up on top of the list of word definitions.
I do not like this change. Names dictionary still displays normally as always when I press shift. - Rated 5 out of 5by curt, 5 bliain ó shin
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14559974, 5 bliain ó shinCan you please add the stroke order diagrams from KANJIDIC?
Edit: it's actually the Kanji stroke order fontDeveloper response
posted 5 bliain ó shinThank you! There are no stroke order diagrams in KANJIDIC itself but I will look at adding something. - Rated 4 out of 5by samurai80, 5 bliain ó shinThank you very much for this porting of Rikaichan. Is there any chance you port Rikaichamp for THUNDERBIRD too ? That would be great to say the least, and I'll probably make a donation if you do so.
I've been working in Japan in a Japanese company for a long time and Rikaichan for Mozilla Thunderbird helped me A LOT. I recently updated Thunderbird just to realize that Rikaichan wasn't supported anymore. Please HELP !
PS: I tried getting the xpi file after adding the extension to Firefox and then import it into Thunderbird. While the extension is properly listed and shown as compatible in Thunderbird, it actually doesn't seem to work :/
EDIT: Thank you for the answer and happy new year :) I hope you or someone else can do something about it. Unfortunately I'm not into software dev :( If it takes less than 6 months it would be awesome !Developer response
posted 5 bliain ó shinThanks. I started digging into this a little bit today. Unfortunately it does seem like it will take time. I posted some notes that might be useful to others who want to help out: https://github.com/birtles/rikaichamp/issues/46 - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14519704, 5 bliain ó shinBefore I used Rikaichan and back then you could use the extension with pdf files open with firefox as well. For some reason, now pdf files opened with firefox will not show the pop-up window. Can you fix this? Also, if you could make this work with epub files it would be awesome.
EDIT: Thanks a lot for clarifying this problem, I have edited my review as this is something that the extension itself cannot solve. I used the link that you provided, this opens some unrelated pdf file and from then I opened my own pdf file within the same window and the plugin now works as it did before. Can you please explain what's special about that pdf tab that makes the extension work?Developer response
posted 5 bliain ó shinUnfortunately there's nothing I can do about PDF files for now due to changes in Firefox that mean extensions can't interact with the PDF viewer (see bug 1454760 - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1454760). Some people have been able to work around this by using the PDF viewer at https://mozilla.github.io/pdf.js/web/viewer.html and then opening a different file from the toolbar in the upper right. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14519666, 5 bliain ó shinIt would be nice if you include other languages (strongly request russian jmdict) and also "kirei cake"
Developer response
posted 5 bliain ó shinThank you! I'm working on supporting other languages. It will take some time, however. - Rated 5 out of 5by Azarilh, 6 bliain ó shin

I only miss the lookup bar. I use the lookup bar to look up words (from other programs, printed media, etc.). As a workaround, I currently use the lookup bar from Rikai-chan in Thunderbird.Developer response
posted 6 bliain ó shinThanks for the suggestion! I'll work on adding the lookup bar back (I have a few other features to fix first, however). - Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 14249466, 6 bliain ó shindoesn't work with touchscreen
edit: ok you're technically right so I'll change my ratingDeveloper response
posted 6 bliain ó shinI think that's clear from the add-on description (there is no hovering on touchscreens) so I don't think a 1/5 rating is fair.
That said, I'd like to make this support Android some day so perhaps we can address touchscreens at the same time.
Update: It now has first class support for touchscreens.
