It's great. Living without outlook was difficult, but now I don't even miss it a bit.

Next is trying the sync with my PPC.

Superb! Very nicely integrated, and relatively easy to import from MS Office using Outlook2vCal.

Why does it contact *.static.theplanet.com at startup ?

Time Management Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles

I've been using Lightning for several months. It has functioned perfectly. It meets all my needs except one: I would like to request a method to report on time use by: Catagory; reporting dates; times; total time by month; and total time between two dates; be included in the release with Thunderbird 3.0 This additional ability would greatly increase the usefulness of Lightning for time management and accounting.

Nice Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles

Two features request: first, the syncro with the new gmail task manager, two, a time line to create a simple Gant diagram with dates, and tasks.
however, all is working like I want.

v. good. Can't fault it really. Recently went to xubuntu 8.10 dual boot -- NB all those with linux problems, you need package libstdc++5 or it just won't work. Well done chaps.

Almost, but notquite... Noté 3 sur 5 étoiles

I use Lightning as my default calendar application, and I'm generally pretty satisfied. The only thing that really irritates me is that responses to invitations are always sent from the default email address, rather than from the address where the invitation was received. There doesn't appear to be any way to change this (other than changing the default, of course). As a result, it's very difficult to manage responses to business and personal events. It's a minor nit, but still somewhat bothersome.

No reminders for Meetings Noté 1 sur 5 étoiles

Meeting invitations don't get reminders set - a bug. I keep missing meetings. This is a brutal bug for me.

Run. Away. Now. Noté 1 sur 5 étoiles

I really wanted this extension to work, and I will be thrilled when it finally does. For the moment, however, it is a nest of bugs.

As others have experienced, it caused Thunderbird to lock up and stop downloading email. This is a very bad feature for an email add-on.

The sync with Google Calendar was non-functional. It synced some events but not others. There was no way to tweak settings.

Lightening will be great one of these days, but not yet. If you install it now, you may well live to regret it.

Hm. Noté 1 sur 5 étoiles

I recently reinstalled and updated to version 2.0.0.21 of Thunderbird on my Windows Vista (sorry) machine, and reinstalled Lightning 0.9.

Before the upgrade, I had two google calendars in my Thunderbird, and was able to manage events, tasks, reminders etc. smoothly in both.

After the reinstall of Lightning, I added my two calendars. At no point was I asked for a password. In stead, when I tried to create a new event, I got a "modification failed" error, and the calendar locked itself.

I haven't been able to do anything with Lightning since.

I suggest somebody look at this problem, because it seems that more people have similar problems with Lightning.

I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 Linux with Thunderbird version 2.0.0.21 (20090318) and I've installed Lightning 0.9. I was unable to create a new event. I'm disappointed because when I saw the screen shots... It was exactly what I was looking for, too bad it doesn't work.

This add-on needs to be more user friendly. Such as improved aesthetic appeal and the ability to "highlight" certain weeks/months/days to signify things such as Academic weeks or holidays.

Otherwise, it integrates nicely with Thunderbird

Ready to Replace Outlook! Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles

I've got 4-5 gmail calendars all displayed and managed in Lightning. Can't wait until Lightning allows me to get rid of Outlook at the office. Easy to add appointments, integrates with Thunderbird.

Noté 1 sur 5 étoiles

Reluctantly I've had to stop trying to use Lightning, as it has been creating unsolvable Thunderbird + Lightning lock-ups in particular network situations. Promising but not much use if it does not connect!

The long outstanding problem with recurring tasks not working properly means this potentially useful add-on is not useful to me.

I spent ages transferring items from my Lotus Organizer to it only to find I have to go back.

When recurring items can be marked complete with future occurrences left incomplete, then this add-on will be useful. But not before.

I just downloaded Lightning, it came through as a file platform 5.htm. I followed the instructions and opened add-ons in thunderbird, found the file and installed it, but as far as I can tell, nothing has happened. How do I get access to the calendar? And there doesn't seem to be anyone to go to for help

gute Aufmachung, aber extrem schlechte Performance bei langfristig sich wiederholenden Terminen (wöchentliche Wiederholung 10 Jahre lang war zu viel des guten) - dringender Verbesserungsbedarf!

Good, but if I snooze notify message and THEN move event to next day, notify message still appears TODAY.... strange.
