Link Widgets

Thanks for the fix Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles

Many thanks, Alexandre, your fix saved my Internet experience... :-) (almost)
I don't always use these widgets, but when I tried them recently and found out they were broken, I was very annoyed...
This add-on is so useful (and well made).

dragdropupload

Nice little add-on Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles

I am a GUI guy: I know how to work from the command line, but I love to use the GUI features, particularly drag'n'drop for lot of tasks, from opening a file to moving text in my editor.

When I need to upload a file on a Web site, this little extension allows me to just select it in my Explorer (I tried it with Windows Explorer and Linux Dolphin), drag it and drop on the file upload component on the page.

There was a bug for some versions of Firefox, trying to drop two files at once, but since FF v.11, this has disappeared, perhaps it was a bug in Firefox after all...

A little add-on that doesn't do much, but does it well!

Dictionary Switcher

Useful for multi-lingual users Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles

This add-on allows to quickly switch between the various installed spell-checking dictionaries.

In my case, I often type English or French messages, and Firefox chooses the language depending on the settings of the site, which sometime are incorrect or just not suited to the moment.
Dictionary Switcher is able to detect what language you use after a few words (probably trying the dictionary raising the fewest errors...) and if that's not enough, it allows to set it by a single left click on the toolbar icon (going to the next language, good if you have few dictionaries) or a right-click (showing a menu to choose quickly what you need).
It doesn't seem much, but it saves time when you have a big context menu and you search the Language item, then select the right one.

Side note: it can also be useful when you want to use the same dialect than the one used in the site you are, ie. if you have, for example, installed British, Australian and US dictionaries, or in French classical French vs. reformed one.

Link Widgets

A must have Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles

A simple, focused, yet very effective little extension, extremely useful.

Once installed, you can add new buttons to the toolbar.
These buttons allows you to go up in the URL hierarchy (one '/' higher or to the root), allowing to explore sites or to quickly go out of a 404 page.
It also has an icon to exploit the "link rel" tags of the page, and next / previous arrows. The latter extract information from the page or the URL to guess the navigation (next / previous page, also first / last pages), and is quite effective. Of course, you often have buttons or links to do that (and they are used by the extension), but too often their place vary in the page and users have to locate them and position the cursor there, which is distracting from the reading. Having these buttons conveniently located on the toolbar at a fixed place is a time saver.

GrabMyBooks

Good, can be better on technical articles Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles

I just grabbed a few pages of article. I appreciate the ease of use and the good management of the articles.
But I think it should manage correctly the pre and code tags, very common in computer science technical articles (to show code snippets). In the pre tags, it should not generate p and br tags but respect whitespace and newlines.
I wouldn't want to hand-edit all these areas...

Extra Folder Columns

Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles

Excellent! I use it since I upgraded to TB3 (I see it is officially endorsed in the release notes) and it works well, doing its job without getting in the way, fixing the early bugs I patched by hand.
One suggestion: instead of ???, display a simple dash -
I used to manually edit the JS file but I am getting lazy...
FYI, I see these ??? in the size of NNTP folders.

It's All Text!

Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles

As Behal said, 1.4 is rejected by Firefox 3.5.7.
After looking at the install.rdf in the .xpi file, I see why: the minVersion is set to 3.6!
If I change it to 3.0, it installs correctly. I hope it still works on 3.5-

Extra Folder Columns

Re: Patch Noté 3 sur 5 étoiles

@Colin Guthrie: many thanks for providing this patch, having all virtual folders with the same name was lame, now we have the best of two worlds! :)

This add-on is a must have, but I reduced my rating because of the lack of update for the release version and for the problem with virtual folder names. I solved these now, but they are tripping for the non-technical people.

@Genton_m: I can confirm it works on a French version of TB.

PS.: This message can be a duplicate, I had a blank page after submitting a first version of this review. Sorry if that's the case.

Tab Mix Plus

A must have! Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles

On every new version of Firefox (3.0, 3.5), I deactivate it (or it isn't available yet), to see if tab management has improved.
And each time, I quickly install it back (thanks, SonjaElen, for the link!)...

Closing a tab with its close icon even if not active (and choice of alternative methods, like Ctrl+Click). Opening a new tab next to the current one. Having tabs on 2 or more rows instead of this scrolling stuff. Being able to unclose a tab (the latest one or one of the MRU). Nicer (IMHO) symbol for moving tabs. The list is endless... (almost).
A must have, IMO.

Make Link

Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles

One of the extensions I use the most: a must have if you post links in forums, blogs, e-mails... anywhere!
Flexible and fast. Excellent.

XPather

Issue Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles

I have only one criticism (using XPather 1.3 with Firefox 2.0.0.9 on Windows XP SP2): if I right-click on an element and select Show in XPather, I get the XPather window but it is inactive: I don't have the XPath of the element, and if I type something simple like //a and Eval, I get nothing.
Actually, for me XPather works only within the DOM Inspector, where it is already very useful.
