Bad news. Even Silverhawk's tweak doesn't work with Firefox 18. No point in downloading it unless he or somebody is able to do a fix. I miss 1-click. Not sure why Comcast-NBC-Weather Channel decided to abandon it except they now have an ad-ware app they want to push everyone towards. ForecastFox is not as good. Please bring one click back.Cet utilisateur a 8 revues précédentes sur ce module.
Thanks to SilverHawk and his tweaks a working version of this add-on is available again. Thumbs down to The Weather Channel for not keeping this add-on up to date. Don't download from this site (the add-on won't work). Following is the link and download instructions to get the working version (note: you'll have to wait 45 seconds to start the download).
To install it:
1) Download the archive from the link above.
2) Remove the existing addon from Firefox and restart Firefox.
3) Click on File->Open and browse to where you downloaded it to.
4) Select the archive and let it install.
They say it works with FF5 Beta. It does not. Weather info will not display. And they still haven't fixed the java problem already mentioned.Cet utilisateur a d'autres revues sur ce module.
Silverhawk's fix works great. If you don't trust the download sites to which links were posted, you can easily do the fix yourself. Only question is, why hasn't Weather Channel done the fix? ....
To fix this extension is very easy if you know what you're doing and not afraid to tinker a little.
Simply download a copy of the .xpi file. Open it up with any archive program such as winzip or winrar (it's basically just a zip file with the extension changed).
There will be a file in the root of the archive called install.rdf, open that up with a text editor. Line 8 of the file looks like this:
Next, change the line that says <em:maxVersion>3.7a1pre</em:maxVersion> to something else such as <em:maxVersion>4.5</em:maxVersion>. This allows the extension to work with Firefox versions up to 4.5.
Save this file back into the archive and close the archive.
Now load up Firefox 4.x, remove the existing extension (if there is one) and restart. Go to File->Open and browse to the location of our modified archive. Wait for the countdown and load it into Firefox...done.
It doesn't work since FF4. Just generates cryptic error messages. Despite the long development period for FF4, they waited to update and then didn't get it right. Now it just generates error messages. Get Forecastfox instead.Cet utilisateur a d'autres revues sur ce module.
Great for banishing those "share bars" that so many news sites are using to clutter up webpages. Select - type "S" - and they are gone.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (1.1.1).
Not updated in over a year. Does not work with FF4 (any versions). I am getting same error message Gaby2300 reported. Revalation is wrong: The link at weather.com links to this page and this add-on. They have a new app that appears in the task bar so maybe they no longer support this add-on. If you want a weather add-on in your status/add-on bar, get Forecast Fox. This one is dead. Too bad. I liked it.Cet utilisateur a d'autres revues sur ce module.
Not completely compatible with FF4b*. Will not sync history. Xmarks hangs on history sync.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (3.9.2).
I used to love gspace but Firefox changed and gspace didn't change with it. I also have the problem of gspace hanging up when I attempt to log in. I've given up. Don't bother with this one.Cet utilisateur a 2 revues précédentes sur ce module.
Slow to up date for new versions of Firefox. Unable to fill in forms in most pop-up windows (which are being used increasingly). When I use Roboform to log in, it usually then prompts me to create a new passcard (identical to the one I just recalled and use); annoying.
I've used Roboform for several years (and paid for it). It has been a great convenience but they just aren't keeping up. Meanwhile Firefox's ability to save log-in info is getting better and more useful.
Great idea - when it works. I used it until FF came up with a new version and disabled this extension.
I tried it again with 3.6.8 and it locks up during log-in (even in safe mode with other extensions disabled).
Also not compatible with webmail, which I had to disable before I could get to the gspace window.
One of the tags is "mouseover" but I see no setting to disable or delay mouseover pop-ups. The rest I don't care about; other add-ons take care of those issues. No documentation is a real draw-back.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (1.12.2010052902).
No updates for over a year. Does not work with Firefox 3.6 even when version check is by-passed. They need to get off it; 3.6 Release Candidate is out so it's a matter of weeks (or less) before the official release (and automatic upgrades) make this obsolete. I'm getting ready to go back to ForecastFox.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (1.1.8). Cet utilisateur a d'autres revues sur ce module.
I miss 1-click weather. It was nice to have quick weather info in the Firefox status bar with quick access to the regional map, hourly and 10 day forecasts. But Firefox has been updated; 1-click weather has not. I tried changing the max version myself so it would install. It installs but won't display and freezes Firefox. Don't bother with this extension now. Come back when (if) there's a version less than one year old. If this is what we get when GE-NBC takes over the Weather Channel, I hate to image how bad it will be when Comcast takes over NBC.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (1.1.8). I recently reintalled FF and my add-ons, including CS. Now there's no Block List (exceptions). There is no point to this add-on without the Block List. Don't bother getting it now.
I hate going to a website and having it start to play audio I haven't asked for. This is a great idea. One suggestion: Some sites use Flash graphics and this extension blocks them as well. There is a Whitelist but you have to the Add-ons window to access extension options. It would be better to be able to add items to the Whitelist from the status bar (ideally by checking "add this site" like you can disable Ad-Block for a site).Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (0.7.3).
Good idea but it keeps signing me out of My Yahoo! (my home page) which is quite annoying.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (1.0.12).
I've been running Fasterfox for a long time. I didn't notice any difference in web page loading speeds but I figured it couldn't hurt. I was wrong. While trying to troubleshoot an unrelated problem in Safe Mode, I noticed Google Maps were updating much faster. I did some trial and error, and it was Fasterfox that slowed the responses.
It's also been 19 months since the last update, which makes me wonder if this extension is still being actively supported. No update yet for FF3.
Great idea but not yet ready for FF 3rc1 (despite what the add-on page tells you). Log on function does not work in 3rc1 making Gspace unusable. Use only in FF2 for time being.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (0.5.94).
The main flaw is once you override add-on computability, you can't bring it back. There is no un-do, not even if you uninstall this extension.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (2.0.2).
