Looks good so far, but I think there should be an option to turn off Advertising blocks completely instead of that one site. The problem is Disconnect Advertising blocking isn't as good as ABP, for example not collapsing blocked elements on occasion. ABP also has a dedicated function to anonymously report an issue so there is a lot less chance to running into webpage breakage. The Disconnect social and analytic blocks seem fine, just the advertising blocks are not.
The addons is really getting there, but 2 issues I noticed.
1) the download window doesn't close when you close the main Firefox window. Just not consistent with the old download managers behavior.
2) When you cancel a download, the downloader progress bar in the Windows 7.8 taskbar incorrectly stays put. Ex If I complete 50 percent of a download and then cancel it. The Windows 7 taskbar icon stays at 50 percent, even if there are no longer any downloads.
Edit: didn't see you your reply to the previous review, will do tomorrow and from there on submit any issues there
Getting almost there. Only real missing thing is the download window stays open even when you close the browser. The old download window closed when you closed the browser.
Mozilla hasn't released Xmarks updates in a long time. All addon updates must be reviewed by Mozilla before general release so Mozilla is not doing it job. If you download Xmarks from the official site or the latest under "version information" on this page all the problems go away. Like earlier reviews stated, it would be better if the download window stayed open after the download is complete to make it consistent with behavior of the old download manager.
Then there are some performance issues, there is a noticeable delay before the addon kicks when you first start it up. Might be just my slow computer being a first generation dual core pentium, but it is noticeable b/c the old firefox download manager didn't have that.
Looks like it works, but it is missing the download complete notification. Other than than that, looks like a keeper, and coming in a 10 kb who can complain.
Firefox 26 in is beta, just hope there is a fix in a pipelines b/c right now autopager doesn't work.
To those having problems. You need to update to 4.2.3. All updates to addons must be reviewed by the Mozilla addon team before being released and they haven't gotten their lazy butts to do it for version 4.2.3 even though Xmarks submitted the updates months ago and Xmarks is one of top addons.
You need to either download xmarks directly form the official xmarks site or go into the development channel on this page to get the properly working version.
I was aghast at the modifications click and play policies of Firefox 24, which was really a less secure and more of a hassle to use, b/c it took out click to play elements, and you had to whitelist a whole domain to get a plugin to work.
This is exactly what I needed to continue using click and play and now more in conformity to expectations of click in play found in other browser like Chrome, Old opera, and android mobile browsers. Thank you so much.
Seems to work, this should be built in for firefox.
Good extension. Currently working in the Stable and beta channel, but not in the Aurora(20) and Nightly (21)
@Ajit K, yup it is working right now, thanks for the update
Posting again to address people who says this is not working. Install the addon then go to google/bing and type is whatismyreferer in the search. When you click on the site it should say "no referrer/ hidden" or whatever you put in. It is working correctly.
Go to Eric' Bishop site (author of this addon) and he eloquently explain his position and why he created this addon. I too am uncomfortable with adblock plus decision b/c it is a opt out and all the implications it has as Eric points out.
All the other reviews have stated the changes with default settings allowing for ads. I would like to remind users that if you are subscribed to any privacy filter list (fanboy, easy privacy) that you will not be affected by default by the new policy of allowing ads.
You can also turn it off yourself it is front in center in the options. That said, I can't agree to this change. It is just too arbitrary for something so momentous, and makes me fear for the future of this addon.
Does what it set out to do. However, if you already use adblock plus, you can just add "antisocial list" and it will also eliminate the social media buttons so you have one less addon. Just food for thought.
In response to previous reviews, I found the developer very polite and responsive to feedback as much as possible (some people can't be satisfied and think that its their project). Also it seems the new version 1.3.6 has solved memory issues with Firefox 4.0. Version 1.3.6 has been already submitted to the Mozilla addon site and is awaiting review and approval, but the Mozilla addon review seem to be backlogged. The new addon review policy is here ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/developers/docs/policies/reviews )
You can still download version 1.3.6 by clicking on "view all versions" at the bottom of this webpage (or mozilla adblock plus addon page) to view/download of any addons including their updates awaiting official mozilla review.
The attempt to monetize WOT by selling it's "Trust Seal" is nefarious. It ain't cheap the most expensive package is 49.90 € a month. Good thing I personally haven't seen one site that stupid enough to waste money on a seal yet. No matter how they justify the "Trust Seal," in the end, money is the driving determinant in obtaining the "Trust Seals", and that goes against all of Wot's principles.
Also the some of the most weighed Wot user's opinion is invalid. They do not have the technical know how to know if a site is malicious or not, a lot of times, they personally do not go to the site themselves, rather they listen to other people's opinions and the rate accordingly.
Awesome addon. Glad for the updates to ensure this addon is working with the FF 4 betas.
Works well. I tried some other method with userscript and greasemonkey, but they stopped working and they didn't save the file names right. This saves the audio name correctly and lets you look at its bitrate.
There is a new version v1.72.0 (as opposed to v1.7.0 here) on the lastpass website that makes this addon fully compatible with FF4. Before I had problems with Lastpass windows and aero rendering incorrectly but the official lastpass download on the site solved that.
Beside that note, excellent plugin, I am very dependent on. The only con I can think of, is that this is by far my largest addon coming in at a more than 2 megs (4 megs uncompressed) so I am wary about Firefox bloat considering Firefox itself is only 8-9 megs (25-30 megs uncompressed).
