It seems I'm not the only one having such difficulty trying to find a simple "highlighter" that makes it easy to highlight (even just 3 or 4 colors would be sufficient - heck, even TWO would be fine by me) whatever amount of text on a page is needed, with the option to save it for later or not, as well as the ability to print it out the page or parts of it with the highlights as well -one WOULD THINK that ALL browsers would have this built in already, & the fact that they're not says a LOT about them (but I'll not go into that) - I appreciate all the efforts all the various devs/people have taken into providing what seems would be such a ridiculously simple thing to provide/create - however, I can't even write a single complete line of the most basic programming - hello world is as far as I got, so I've got mad, maad respect for all you "geeks" out there. That said, unfortunately, this highlighter addon, along with the other 4 or 5 I've tried today, so far haven't worked very well.
With TextMarker here, highlighting, then right clicking to bring up the menu, choosing highlight! was easy enough to figure out, but I could not get the highlights to be whatever colors I wanted them to be - they just kept cycling through - yellow, green, blue, red, yellow, green, blue, red, etc... in options I played with the menu - only 5 choices, how hard can it be? Right? Sure, it says use the "M", "N" & "B" keys for hotkeys - but nothing I tried managed to get them to make whatever highlights I wanted those colors - holding right mouse key and doing a combo with the letters, left mouse key+B,N or M, etc, etc - so maybe I'm just really retarded and making things more difficult than they need to be, but just highlighting and pushing any of the keys afterwords didn't work, nor did shift+B/M/N combo work...at one point, text that I highlighted and was trying to get blue instead of yellow, I re-highlighted and chose remove highlights from text and the entire paragraph I'd highlighted disappeared - after I refreshed the page it returned with the deleted text w/out the highlight. Anyways, I didn't have much luck getting this to run smoothly. I know alot of the addons seem to have compatibility issues since the new FF update, which could possibly be the case with this addon here too? IDK, anyways, I'll keep playing with it - maybe it's the FF settings I've got that's messing with it - I'll update this post if I have any epiphanies or lightbulbs go off. As well as keep trying out other highlighters too - somethings gotta give!
I honestly was going to give it one star, after getting so frustrated with not being able to get something so seemingly simple/basic so difficult to get to work for me - maybe some precise instructions on the hot keys for highlighting as well as sharing what kind of settings you've got that might help with incompatibility issues between FF and the addon maybe? anyways, thanks Simon, appreciate your contribution - if we can just get it working smoothly now....
I like everything to open up in a new tab, and this does the trick for pretty much everything I click on, however, when I sign out of gmail and close the tab, it opens up a new tab with gmail signed in, which I then have to close out again, which makes you feel like you're in Groundhog's Day...with so many settings that can be changed that I'm not really clear on exactly what they're going to change, I don't know if I've got one of the settings wrong or if it's a glitch. After uninstalling, my tabs were funky and I couldn't fix them...feels like something that's supposed to make your life simpler and easier just makes it more complicated...makes me feel pretty dumb as well lol. Looking into alternatives.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (0.4.1.0).
