TabGroups Manager

TGM is compatible with FF 25 Alpha Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles

Hi geoff80, good news! we have tested TGM with FF 25 Nightly build and its compatible. There are some minor visual issues but nothing to worry about. Check the issue thread here: http://code.google.com/p/tabgroupsmanager/issues/detail?id=2
1. We have also fixed the tab dissapearing issues when moving tabs to groups or reordering/drag&drop them.
2. There are still other issues being fixed: Session Restoring, Groups and Tabs Order, TabMix Plus broken..

We are planning on releasing a new Compatibility Fix soon, which may address the tab issue (1.) described above. We have a lot more experience now with TGM code and the team is doing a good progress with tasks like Developing Enviroment, Testing procedure and Testing Enviroments, Releases Planning and Naming Conventions.. Compatibility Fixes releases are being a bit slow, but we want to ensure some quality and stability without introducing new issues.

Thanks Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles

Thank you guys for the suggestions and issues reported. Im really busy these days and havent been able to play with the code, but I will take in mind all of them and set a new TabGroupsManager project version in google.

About the Firefox TGM reload issue, I think you could solve it just by changing the way Firefox automatically opens tabs. Check load all tabs once Firefox is opened instead of loading them when you click in the tab.

Dont know whats going on with reviews Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles

Thank you guys for bumping up my reviews and other user solutions. I dont really know what Mozilla moderators are doing with the reviews. They should analyse it better before deleting it, since I have not recieved any notification.

Anyways Im thinking about setting up a branch copy of the original addon with the name "TabGroupsManager Continued", where we could easily keep track of bugs, fixes and changes.
I dont really have much time to improve or fix it, so I hope more experienced people could join or lead it and continue the excelent work Axel Shootingstar has made.

@geoff80: Just tried it again with 21 Beta 2, and it still does NOT work! ..... It doesn't load any of my tab groups and it breaks when you try to re-arrange tabs. It seems like it works at first, but then these issues arise. Please fix these issues!!
--

Hi geoff80, Its working perfectly for me in FF20 and FF21 beta2, I can suspend and hybernate tab groups and restore them without any problem, of course it may not be still bug free.

Bugs:
--------
The problem with tab disorder that some have seen, could be a bug given only the first time everything is restored back from a backup. The tabs are not loaded in the right order for some reason, however I havent still seen this one. It could happen when firefox crash and we click restore tabs or when you update firefox to a new version, Im not sure though.

The tab rearrangement bug is still there, its an old one, and I will look for a possible fix it in the future.

The problem/bug about tab groups not being loaded may happen when TabGroupsManager is not loaded at all.
It could be because there could still be some incompatible code which makes TabGroupsManager not to finish loading or because there could be other incompatible extensions.
You can easily check if TabGroupsManager has been perfectly loaded by installing the debug version I posted at the end of the post. Please install that version and restart firefox, then write in pastebin.com all popup exception messages you see when you open firefox. Put the pastebin link here so I can take a look at the exceptions to check for problems or non compatible code.

thank you guys for the comments :)

Possible fix for Firefox 20 Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles

I have made some debugging and made a small change/fix which apparently works with lastest Firefox 20.
I still need a bit more testing since I have probably broke some functionality but the main functionality (backup, autosave, restore, reload on start, create new group..) should work and we will be able to use with FF20.

Ill submit tests and full details with changes and how to debug it in some hours, and uploading this night :)
That way anyone could make it working again, since my knowlegde of javascript and jquery is not very advanced :P

Issue tracking, problems and solutions Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles

I cannot promise a quick fix but I will take a look into it. Never programmed before a Firefox addon but I have a lot of experience in programming and love this addon. I will try to fix the top issues described below, unafortunately it will be slow since the addon is really big and I need to check mostly everything.

Thank you so much to the people here who submmited all issues and solutions. I have made a list with the most important ones.

[Issue Priority]
----------------
1. With FF20 and UP. Doesnt work:
Restoring suspended groups is impossible and, in some cases, session tabs and groups are not restored on browser restart.
TEMPORARY SOLUTION:
Until a patch fix is provided.. Make full backup of current Firefox profile and folder. Reinstall Firefox v19. Load backup of saved tabs with TabManager.

2. With Firefox Nightly 21.0a1 beta and UP:
I don't see the group tabs, only a line with a "+", "hibernate group" and "-". Is the compatibility broken?
TEMPORARY SOLUTION:
Until a patch fix is provided.. Make full backup of current Firefox profile and folder. Reinstall Firefox v19. Load backup of saved tabs with TabManager.

3. With Firefox v15 and UP:
When you move tabs to any place or group, the behaviour is impredictable, you will see tabs stacked, or empty spaces between tabs..
TEMPORARY SOLUTION:
If you need to move a tab to another group, right click in the tab and use "Send to Other Group..". The tab will be sent perfectly without problems.
If you need to move a tab between tabs, move the tab slowly to left or right without getting the mouse pointer very up to the group place.
Just make sure that you move the tab with your pointer at the same height of the other tabs and it will not become buggy.

4. With Firefox 19 and maybe others:
TabsGroupManager and Tab Mix Plus conflict and doesnt work.
TEMPORARY SOLUTION:
Disable Tab Mix Plus. I got back to almost exactly my preferred layout by disabling Tab Mix Plus and enabling Tab Utilities in order to get multi-row tabs.
Only problem is that Tab Utilities cannot precisely control variable width of tabs, so all my tabs must now have the same width. That is a small price to pay to get back TGM and multi-row tabs.

[Suggestions and Improvements]
------------------------------
1. Check for Memory Leak:
The extension rocks and works perfectly but it still needs to check for memory leak problems which makes firefox slow and unresponsive.
TEMPORARY SOLUTION:
Install the addon "Memory Fox" which greatly improves Firefox memory management and tries to solve memory leaks. Make sure you activate it after installed (you will see a small green circle M).

2. In Firefox 18 the group tabs are there, but the whole browser works way slower, almost unusable.
TEMPORARY SOLUTION:
One of the small improvements I have seen is to install Firefox 32 bits under a Operative System with 64 bits. The main reason is that firefox usually requires a lot of physical memory to load all tabs.
Another improvement to use this addon is not to use at the same time more than 60 Tabs in total. Use Hybernate to groups tabs you are not going to use for a long time, and just bookmark them if you dont need them.
Another improvement is to install the addon "Memory Fox" which greatly improves Firefox memory management and tries to solve memory leaks. Make sure you activate it after installed (you will see a small green circle M).

3. Suggestions:
New tabs seem to open up relatively next to the one you are currently on instead of at the end of your list of tabs. Having this configurable would be nice. when new pages are open on the current tab vs. a new tab. Refreshing the current url by editing it and pressing return, or typing in a new url, will cause it to load that url in a new tab. It would be nice if this was configurable, to enable that new url to load in the current tab. I've tried other tab addons along with this one that allow you to configure that behavior, but none of them appear to work with this addon installed.

[Needs more description and detail to reproduce the issue]
----------------------------------------------------------
1. Tabs are illegible:
The suspendend tabs are illegible (the graphics is garbled)
ANSWER:
Please give more details about what steps did you follow in order to be able to reproduce the issue again.

2. The web site of the developer gives a 404 error.. it seems he abandened his creature ....
ANSWER:
Maybe he will come back in future, I hope so :D

TabGroups Manager

Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles

The extension rocks and works perfectly but it still needs to check for memory leak problems which makes firefox to be totally overloaded and needs to be restarted after some minutes (about one or two hours). Also tested with Memory Fox optimizer but the problem still happens.
If you play with thousand of tabs you should hybernate some groups in order to run firefox stable for more minutes.

Please Alex update the extension so we can see that you are still there. I will donate since its wonderfull but I need to see such support. Thanks a lot.

Flashblock

How to allow all and just block some sites. Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles

Hello, first I would like to thank you for your addon, works perfectly.
It it there a way to allow all sites and just block some sites with a simple right click, or creating a black list site?
That option would be really nice for daily use in some personal computers where we just need to block some flash of webs that we usually visit each days.

Thanks :)
