Thank you, JoungKyun, for your speedy response! I am now using version 0.3.0 for FF 28 and it appears to be working perfectly.
Thanks again for such a quick update.
Thank you, JoungKyun, for your quick response. By confirming the problem, you save me time and effort in trying to find what is wrong.
I look forward to your next release.
Thank you, Hemiola SUN, for your quick response and for considering the suggestions in my previous review.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (0.8.11). Cet utilisateur a 3 revues précédentes sur ce module.
For some time now, when I right click on a web page and hover over "Character Encoding", I see:
I see nothing else listed.
When I hover over "Auto-Detect", nothing appears.
When I hover over "More Encodings", I get 5 items appear:
SE & SW Asian
- but when I hover over each of them, nothing appears.
This add-on used to work until a few weeks ago. Maybe another add-on is conflicting with it?
After your response to my review, I have updated the "rating" back to "5 stars".
I look forward to the next release.
Thank you, Hemiola SUN, for version 0.9.0b. It makes the "Hidden settings" easy to use, and the smaller icon is excellent.
I have two ideas for you to consider. Maybe you are working on them already:
1. Use a separate file for the cache, rather than pref.js. My prefs.js is 547 kb, of which "text area cache" is 346 kb. I think it is good practice to save unimportant extension specific data in a separate file.
2. Add a facility for searching the cache for text strings. I often need to find a web site that I posted a comment on, but cannot remember where or when. Being able to search the cache means I can find the post and web site instantly.
I hope you can consider these two features.
Thanks again for your add-on.
I just noticed that the Add-On Bar icon is no longer there, which is why I came to this web page.
I just read the review from "malvachat" and the author's reply, and decided to try to find the icon. I found it by right-clicking on the Add-On Bar and clicking on "Customize". The icon was in the window of icons labelled "Customize Toolbar", so I dragged it onto the Add-On Bar. It works as expected.
So now I am confused - I don't know why the author says he will put the icon back in a later release, since I have found it in this release.
But, ignoring my confusion, I would like to say that the icon is very important to me as I use it to copy my input to a web site and then paste the text into a bookmark of that web page, in the bookmark's "Description" field. So I always have a record of what I have entered onto a web page.
Thank you, Hemiola SUN, for this Add-On.
I run Firefox 28.
I changed the Hotkey setting - unchecked it so that Alt+m does not activate this add-on.
I changed the Key setting from 'm' to 'n'.
But after restarting Firefox, Alt+m still runs this add-on.
But Alt+m MUST be the Menu shortcut, you cannot hijack it for your add-on.
Doesn't work for me with Firefox 28.
"Conform Searchbox" add-on does what this add-on is supposed to do.
Thank you masahal.
Many times I use the Google web page to do searches and then want to search for a particular word in my search string. When this happens I regret not entering the search string in the Searchbox.
But this add-on fixes that problem - the search terms go into the Searchbox after I do the search from the Google web site.
Also, this add-on is working with the SearchWP add-on - so all my search terms in the Google page become Buttons in the Searchbox and I can click on a button to search for a particular word.
When the AIO Sidebar is displaying Add-Ons, you can click on an Add-On and then click on its "More" link to read more information about it.
After reading the "More" section, you can click on the "Back" icon, but AIO Sidebar always goes back to the very top of the list of Add-Ons.
This is OK if you have only 20 or so Add-Ons installed, but I have 94. So it is unhelpful having to keep scrolling down the list of Add-Ons to get back to the one I was just looking at.
I would like the Back button to remember which Add-On I was previously displaying.
I am writing this here because if I try to go to your support forum I get a "404 Not Found" error.
I use "Malware Bytes' Anti-Malware".
The executable file is:
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
After a download, mbam.exe runs, but it looks as though it is not being passed the file name.
So mbam.exe does not scan the file, it just waits for me to select the type of scan - which I don't want to do.
If I open a DOS window and run:
"C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe " <filename>
- the file is correctly scanned.
The previous version of "Download Statusbar" ran mbam.exe with no problems, so I don't think it is a configuration problem on my part.
I'm running S3.Download Statusbar v. 1.7 on Firefox 27 on Windows XP.
Thank you Oleksandr!
The virus check is now working perfectly in version 1.9.
Your efforts are much appreciated.
All the best,
So many other search extensions don't quite do what I want - this one is just perfect.
Thank you, Mr. "Quicksaver". ;)
Deservedly "Mozilla’s Pick of the Month!"
I have 600+ passwords saved in my Password Safe (http://pwsafe.org/) and yet Firefox doesn't present me with username/password options on some sites.
This add-on fixed that problem by allowing me to add the necessary details to Firefox's password manager.
And if you want to watch the best ever tutorial on how to use an add-on, just click on "a video demonstrating this workaround" in the "About this Add-on" section above.
Yes, FF 26.0 breaks this extension, so I've reverted to 25.0.1 because this extension is far more important to me than whatever little tweaks Mozilla have done in their race to get to version 100.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (0.9.8).
I just read your reply to "frascati" and was happy to see that there are "Global Settings"!
I think you should give more prominence to this feature as it has made my Firefox experience so much better on my tiny Netbook screen!
I used "7zip" to extract files and "Notepad-Plus-Plus" to edit a file.
1. Use 7zip to extract everything from "searchwp-2.6.2-fx.xpi".
2. Leave the 7zip window open.
3. In extracted folder "chrome", use another instance of 7zip to extract everything from "searchwp.jar".
4. Leave this 7zip window open also.
5. In extracted folder "content", use Notepad++ (the text editor) to edit "searchbox.xml".
6. At about line 402, change this line:
var fastFind = window.getBrowser().fastFind;
var fastFind = gBrowser.selectedTab.linkedBrowser.fastFind;
7. Save the new "searchbox.xml".
8. In the 7zip window that is open for "searchwp.jar", click on folder "content" so that the original "searchbox.xml" is displayed in the list of folders and files.
9. In Windows Explorer, drag the new "searchbox.xml" onto this 7zip window. This will update "searchbox.xml" in "searchwp.jar".
10. Close this 7zip window.
11. In the 7zip window that is open for "searchwp-2.6.2-fx.xpi", click on folder "chrome" so that the original "searchwp.jar" is displayed.
12. In Windows Explorer, drag the new "searchwp.jar" onto this 7zip window. This will update "searchwp.jar" in "searchwp-2.6.2-fx.xpi".
13. Close this 7zip window.
14. Install the new, updated "searchwp-2.6.2-fx.xpi" in Firefox 25.
The only problem I have found is that the "minimum length" option doesn't work - all words of any length are searchable.
It's because of add-ons like this.
You get a really annoying problem with Firefox, for example it crashes, and when you restart it, every Youtube video then starts playing simultaneously with every other!
What a racket! How fast can you find every tab that has a Youtube video on it and turn the <expletive deleted> things off?
So then you think: "Well, someone else must've had this problem and come up with a fix". So you search the add-ons and "Yippeeeee! There's a fix for it".
Except, the add-n doesn't work for the latest version of Firefox!!
Why can't Firefox get stable, stay stable and just take a rest for a change? Every week there's a new version and half my extensions have to be updated. OK, slight exaggeration.
Hey, Mozilla! It's not a race to get to version 583, y'know. Nobody cares what number it is, and the bigger it is does NOT mean it's better. In fact, you just annoy people with all these updates.
I was quite happy when it was version 3.6. But instead of 3.7 it jumped to 4. Then 5,6,7,8,9...
<expletive deleted> will you slow up? Give the poor add-on writers a chance to catch up?
I have a feeling that if you - Mozilla - haven't got the basic core of Firefox sorted out by now, then you never will.
And remember this, Mozilla, Firefox was written for the add-ons. End of. If people don't use add-ons then why are they running Firefox. They may as well use Chrome.
End of rant.
PS. Dear Nikola Kovacs, if you can't find the time to update this add-on, can you please let someone else do it?
Thanks for the small icon option!
PS. Just for the record, I don't see any "Info notifications" or "Closing Warnings".
I haven't tried - and don't want - the "Keep Current Tab" or "Open Home Page" options, so can't comment on them.
Thanks, Michael. I missed this function for the last couple of days!
I don't know what the "Amp Your Firefox Contest" was all about, but I do know that Mr. Piro produces some of the best Firefox add-ons and should get an award.
This add-on - Tree Style Tab - makes sense in so many ways:
1. Don't use precious vertical space for your tabs - put them on the left side.
2. How many tabs can you put at the top? 5 or 6 before you can't read them? So put them on the left and have 20 or more, fully readable.
3. How can you tell which tabs were opened from another tab? Easy - the indentation tells you at a glance.
4. And many more features and options.
Such a good add-on. Thank you Mr. Piro.
