Why Isn't This Add-On Deleted? Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
What is the point of an add-on that doesn't work as it is supposed to and hasn't been updated in years?
I don't blame the author for keeping the Donate button working, but it would be nice if this author actually did some work on the add-on.
I also don't blame the author for giving up on this add-on since Mozilla is forever modifying the way Firefox works and screwing up dozens of add-ons in the process.
Edit after Mr Cox's reply:
This add-on was one of my "must haves" through the years, along with All-In-One-Sidebar, Tree Style Tabs and about 20 others.
It is so annoying when Mozilla changes some basic internal Firefox functionality that breaks a whole group of add-ons. I run 93 add-ons so I am always loathe to "upgrade" as I know I will lose many add-ons.
Now I, too, have stopped using your Autosizer add-on. Instead I've put:
the URL window and some add-on icons on the Menu Bar
the search bar and some search related add-on icons on the Bookmarks bar, and
the bookmarks on the Navigation bar.
My next major effort will be to upgrade from v28 to v54, replace whatever add-ons no longer work, and find new add-ons that make v54 look like v28, eg. Classic Theme Restorer.
Wouldn't it be nice if Firefox always looked the same after an "upgrade", add-ons always worked , and the only difference in the new version was faster speed, and increased reliability and functionality?

OMG! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
I HATE the striped looked of the Addons panel!
Why would you do that?
This is similar to the way the Mozilla guys are changing the appearance of Firefox just for the hell of it.
These changes in appearance DO NOT IMPROVE it.
They are "theme" changes. If you want people to have an alternative THEME, then make it optional.
Don't force us to accept stuff like this.
Tell me there is a way to get it back to non-striped.
OK, I see what you have done, whether intentional or not. You changed the background colour from "#FFFFFF" to "ButtonFace" in addons.css at line 192.
So I changed it back and now it looks OK again. Phew.
One question: Did you really mean to change it to a sort of 1960's retro Mary Quant type style?
PS. You can delete my comment now, if you like, as I found how to get back to the old colour. But please make any such style changes optional.
Excellent Extension! Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
It is with great relief that I can now stop banging my head on my desk every time the <deleted> at Mozilla decide to bring out yet another "rapid release" version of their browser.
I can at last relax.
Because no matter how much the goons at Mozilla decide to inflict what they believe is the way Firefox should look, we can now counteract their nonsense and bring back the way it should look, they we want it to look and the way it ought to look, thanks to this wonderful extension.
Anyone would think that these [I wish I could think of a suitable term - I don't want to flatter them by calling them "Engineers"] at Mozilla don't actually know the difference between a "theme" and "functionality".
What we users want them to do is to make Firefox more functional, more secure, more powerful and more configurable. They seem to have forgotten that the original reason why Firefox was created was so that people could write "extensions" or, if you want to dumb it down: "add-ons", and everyone could enjoy the extra functionality brought by these extensions.
So, Mozilla, stop screwing around with the way Firefox looks and concentrate on making it better. YOUR view on what it should look like is not what everyone else thinks. Stop mucking it about and get back on track with development.
PS. Did I say what a great extension this is?
Superb! Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
A must-have extension for people - like me - who have 90+ extensions installed.
I've been using the "Menu Editor" extension for years to remove unwanted items from the Main context menu and the Tab context menu so that just the more commonly used ones appear - otherwise the menu doesn't fit on the screen!
This extension makes that job simple.
Excellent Extension Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
I've been using this extension for a long time and love it. There is one extra feature I would love you to add to your "to-do list" regarding the notification sound.
Some extensions include their own .wav file for sounds, which I like to replace with my own, and other extensions have the ability to specify a sound file to be played with notifications.
Either way, rather than just a "ding" system sound, I would really like you to consider allowing user-customisable sounds.

Thank you, JoungKyun, for your speedy response! I am now using version 0.3.0 for FF 28 and it appears to be working perfectly.
Thanks again for such a quick update.

Thank you, JoungKyun, for your quick response. By confirming the problem, you save me time and effort in trying to find what is wrong.
I look forward to your next release.

Is This Add-On Working in Firefox 28? Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
For some time now, when I right click on a web page and hover over "Character Encoding", I see:
I see nothing else listed.
When I hover over "Auto-Detect", nothing appears.
When I hover over "More Encodings", I get 5 items appear:
SE & SW Asian
- but when I hover over each of them, nothing appears.
This add-on used to work until a few weeks ago. Maybe another add-on is conflicting with it?
After your response to my review, I have updated the "rating" back to "5 stars".
I look forward to the next release.
A Couple Of Thoughts... Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
Thank you, Hemiola SUN, for version 0.9.0b. It makes the "Hidden settings" easy to use, and the smaller icon is excellent.
I have two ideas for you to consider. Maybe you are working on them already:
1. Use a separate file for the cache, rather than pref.js. My prefs.js is 547 kb, of which "text area cache" is 346 kb. I think it is good practice to save unimportant extension specific data in a separate file.
2. Add a facility for searching the cache for text strings. I often need to find a web site that I posted a comment on, but cannot remember where or when. Being able to search the cache means I can find the post and web site instantly.
I hope you can consider these two features.
Thanks again for your add-on.
Add-On Bar Icon Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
I just noticed that the Add-On Bar icon is no longer there, which is why I came to this web page.
I just read the review from "malvachat" and the author's reply, and decided to try to find the icon. I found it by right-clicking on the Add-On Bar and clicking on "Customize". The icon was in the window of icons labelled "Customize Toolbar", so I dragged it onto the Add-On Bar. It works as expected.
So now I am confused - I don't know why the author says he will put the icon back in a later release, since I have found it in this release.
But, ignoring my confusion, I would like to say that the icon is very important to me as I use it to copy my input to a web site and then paste the text into a bookmark of that web page, in the bookmark's "Description" field. So I always have a record of what I have entered onto a web page.
Thank you, Hemiola SUN, for this Add-On.
Does Not Remember Settings Noté 1 sur 5 étoiles
I run Firefox 28.
I changed the Hotkey setting - unchecked it so that Alt+m does not activate this add-on.
I changed the Key setting from 'm' to 'n'.
But after restarting Firefox, Alt+m still runs this add-on.
But Alt+m MUST be the Menu shortcut, you cannot hijack it for your add-on.
Better To Use "Conform SearchBox" Add-on Noté 1 sur 5 étoiles
Doesn't work for me with Firefox 28.
"Conform Searchbox" add-on does what this add-on is supposed to do.
Working Perfectly For Me In Firefox 28.0 Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
Thank you masahal.
Many times I use the Google web page to do searches and then want to search for a particular word in my search string. When this happens I regret not entering the search string in the Searchbox.
But this add-on fixes that problem - the search terms go into the Searchbox after I do the search from the Google web site.
Also, this add-on is working with the SearchWP add-on - so all my search terms in the Google page become Buttons in the Searchbox and I can click on a button to search for a particular word.
Please Make The Back Button Remember Where You Came From Noté 3 sur 5 étoiles
When the AIO Sidebar is displaying Add-Ons, you can click on an Add-On and then click on its "More" link to read more information about it.
After reading the "More" section, you can click on the "Back" icon, but AIO Sidebar always goes back to the very top of the list of Add-Ons.
This is OK if you have only 20 or so Add-Ons installed, but I have 94. So it is unhelpful having to keep scrolling down the list of Add-Ons to get back to the one I was just looking at.
I would like the Back button to remember which Add-On I was previously displaying.
I am writing this here because if I try to go to your support forum I get a "404 Not Found" error.
I Can't Get The Virus Check To Work Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
I use "Malware Bytes' Anti-Malware".
The executable file is:
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
After a download, mbam.exe runs, but it looks as though it is not being passed the file name.
So mbam.exe does not scan the file, it just waits for me to select the type of scan - which I don't want to do.
If I open a DOS window and run:
"C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe " <filename>
- the file is correctly scanned.
The previous version of "Download Statusbar" ran mbam.exe with no problems, so I don't think it is a configuration problem on my part.
I'm running S3.Download Statusbar v. 1.7 on Firefox 27 on Windows XP.
Thank you Oleksandr!
The virus check is now working perfectly in version 1.9.
Your efforts are much appreciated.
All the best,
Brilliant! I've been waiting for someone to write this add-on for years... Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
So many other search extensions don't quite do what I want - this one is just perfect.
Thank you, Mr. "Quicksaver". ;)

Exactly what I needed Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
I have 600+ passwords saved in my Password Safe (http://pwsafe.org/) and yet Firefox doesn't present me with username/password options on some sites.
This add-on fixed that problem by allowing me to add the necessary details to Firefox's password manager.
And if you want to watch the best ever tutorial on how to use an add-on, just click on "a video demonstrating this workaround" in the "About this Add-on" section above.
Re-Install Firefox 25.0.1 :) Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
Yes, FF 26.0 breaks this extension, so I've reverted to 25.0.1 because this extension is far more important to me than whatever little tweaks Mozilla have done in their race to get to version 100.Cette critique concerne une version précédente du module (0.9.8.1-signed).
Global Settings? RTFM! Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
I just read your reply to "frascati" and was happy to see that there are "Global Settings"!
I think you should give more prominence to this feature as it has made my Firefox experience so much better on my tiny Netbook screen!
