This extension is a LIFE-SAVER! Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
I fell in love with this extension when I installed it on my 3 computers a couple weeks ago. It is exactly what I've needed for years! There is *no possibility* of manually keeping bookmarks identical on multiple computers.
Actually, according to Foxmarks, I have over 1,300 bookmarks! Yikes!
But you don't know how *bad* you need this extension until something happens...like last summer, when I exported my bookmarks as HTML prior to a "fresh install" of the operating system (I didn't know about MozBackup).
I *still* have the HTML page -- Firefox can't import them back! I had to manually visit each page, bookmark it, then delete it from the HTML file. A hundred or so are still not re-visited and re-bookmarked yet.
This week, I was about to back up large partitions on my hard drive to DVD -- but Windows coudn't write to the DVD. I apparently "confused" the OS when trying to change permissions on a DVD-RW's files to delete the recorded show. I had to do a fresh install of the OS, after doing a turtle-paced online backup.
Not to worry about my Firefox bookmarks, though -- Foxmarks saves the day!!!
Regarding Foxmarks not syncrhonizing:
There are some conflicts between bookmark synchronization and Foxmarks Setup Wizard. Perhaps there are race conditions, I don't know. (I think this process should be improved, and no synchronization should be automatically attempted until the Wizard has been *successfully* *completed*.)
But here are the steps that solved the problem for me -- try these after you install Foxmarks and restart Firefox.
1) Click Tools > Foxmarks > Foxmarks Settings.
2) Click the button Run Setup Wizard.
3) Enter all the proper info (your email and password if you have an account, or create a new account). Go as far as you can in the Wizard until the final screen, which will have the rotating blue busy icon.
4) At the final screen with the rotating blue busy icon, click "Cancel".
5) When the confirmation dialog appears, check the box not to automatically run the wizard again. Then click OK.
6) If you also have another Syncrhonize dialog open, click Cancel to close that one, too.
7) Click Tools > Foxmarks > Foxmarks Settings.
8) Click the Sync tab and choose what you want synchronized, and when. For now, it is easier to *not* choose any automatic actions at all until you've got it done successfully once manually.
9) Click the Advanced tab and choose what you want encrypted before it is transmitted over the Internet. (If you have a speedy, optimized computer, Encrypt All will work super-fast even if you have thousands of bookmarks!)
10) Now we will perform *manually* what we could NOT do in the busy screen of the Wizard...do our *first* synchronization! If you already have uploaded bookmarks before, and you want to overwrite the default Firefox bookmarks with your own, click the Download button.
11) Click OK.
12) Enter your username and password as needed.
13) Click the Bookmarks menu and navigate to see that your personal bookmarks have been downloaded.
14) Now that you have successfully synchronized, enable any automatic actions you want Foxmarks to take. Click Tools > Foxmarks > Foxmarks Settings. Use the Sync tab to choose if you want to sync on shutdown (and if you want to program to require your confirmation). This will protect you if you forget to sync yourself (unless Firefox crashes, of course). If you choose Automatic Synchronization, if will automatically sync every 5 minutes, which is safer. However, it will annoy you with interruptions if you prefer not to save passwords. If you configured Foxmarks not to store your password, you may want to *not* use Automatic Syncrhonization. (Just my 2 cents!)
** I AM NOT A FOXMARKS OR FIREFOX DEVELOPER! ** I am just relaying what works for me. If you find this does not work exactly, restart Firefox and try some of the steps in a different order. I have never quite got it right the first time, so I have had to restart Firefox more than once before getting Foxmarks to do the first sync.
This refers to the *newer* Foxmarks that is compatible with Firefox 3.0.x -- if you are still using Firefox 2.0.x, and you have not updated Foxmarks, you may not have this problem.
Currently My Favorite Add-on Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles
Having 2 personal computers, & 1 notebook, at my home alone, has always made keeping up-to-date bookmarks on all 3 a chore; however, Foxmark's Synchronizer seems to easily do all of the heavy lifting for me.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (1.0.1).
Enjoyed it briefly... Noté 2 sur 5 étoiles
until I found out it was connecting continuously to the servers. Gave it a 3 because of that problem alone, other then that I love the extension.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (1.0.1).
Unbelieveably Useful Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
Running between my laptop, desktop and work machine, this add-on makes it painless to keep all the bookmarks in sync.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (1.0.1).

'A Godsend' Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
Not just useful for getting hold of your bookmarks on to another computer. I use FireFox Portable on a USB external Hard Drive and it is easy to keep the bookmarks on the removable drive in sync with my main PC. Using FireFox Portable means I can plug my removable drive into any PC anywhere and have FireFox and my bookmarks to hand.

Fantastic Add-on! Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
I've been using Foxmarks for quite a while to keep home and work bookmarks synced. Kind of took it for granted - it worked flawlessly without ever bothering me. Two days ago, on my home computer, I decided to try del.icio.us. I downloaded it and told it to import my bookmarks, not realizing it would Remove them! It also removed all my folders in my bookmark toolbar - and I use that all day long! I tried toying with the new program to see if I could get comfortable with how they had my bookmarks. This morning, after getting extremely frustrated and missing my old setup, I uninstalled del.icio.us, clicked on Foxmarks and told it to download. Presto! In 10 seconds, my bookmarks and the toolbar were restored. I am SO glad I had Foxmarks on my computers. Thanks for a FANTASTIC program!Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (1.0.1).
Lovely! Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles
Almost perfect except for it being unable to sync sometimes. The last thing you want to worry about when your computer crashes is losing your bookmarks.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (1.0.1).
Useful? No ... necessary Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
Having up to 4 different firefox instances, scattered between home, laptop, linux and XP, I quickly fell bored of copying bookmarks from one another, having old versions, etc. . . . It is always the first add-on I install and/or recommend to anybody. Superb.
If I may add, it would be unmatched if it did something similar synchronizing add-ons along with bookmarks....
A pity! Noté 2 sur 5 étoiles
Loved this add-on but since the the upgrade? can no longer use it with my Mac computer at work.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (1.0.1).
Handy! Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles
Love it. I use 2 computers and I'm constantly changing from one to another for ´x´ reason. When I found this product it definitely made things easier. I have to admit the error that states that my bookmarks may get deleted/erased gets me a little uneasy, therefore my 9 score rating, otherwise this great add-on would get a 10. Good job Foxmarks Inc.!Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (1.0.1).

I'm a big fan of this add-on. Honestly, haven't had much cause to use it via the internet, b/c I almost always use my laptop. But recently, I switched over to Ubuntu & bringing along my foxmarks bookmarks was the easiest thing ever. And today I booted up an old computer that I'm going to use at a new job, switched from IE to Firefox, and again, brought along my bookmarks. Wonderful & easy! The few times I've needed to use it from the internet, myfoxmarks has worked great! ThanksCette critique est pour une version précédente du module (1.0.1).
Quite a helpful tool Noté 4 sur 5 étoiles
I can't speak for other add-on that aspire to perform the same task foxmark's does, but i do know this add-on is a huge help to me because i don't have to update my bookmarks daily from my work computer and home computer. It does save a little time, but it's more a matter of convenience. I've been running this add-on for at least a year and haven't had a problem except for the server being busy occasionally, but since it syncs up automatically, it eventually connects and syncs both computers. I sometimes wish this add-on had a little broader grasp on the bookmark system by searching by tags or auto organizing, but for as far as its main purpose, it works great.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (1.0.1).
Can't live without this Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
This is a must have it tool, just imagine for a split second, you are accessing computer in different place e.g. office, university/college, home, friend's home etc etc and want to have your bookmarks available everywhere, this is a tool then.
Not ideal if those machines are in public area i.e. not your personal computer or personal profile on computer e.g. at university.
Early and very happy adopter Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
I'm too lazy usually to leave f/b on any of the myriad extensions I use @ home/work. But some of the recent -ves about this one forced me. I happen to remember grabbing and installing this extension the day it was published (freak coincidence). And I'd happily rate it 10/10 for each day since. No performance problems/confusions whatsoever, ever. I don't like extensions (google...) that decide they're the best in the world and therefore try taking over my desktop. This one is dedicated and rock solid.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (1.0.1).
fantastic! Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
Lets you synchronize bookmarks. I like that there is an option of MERGING bookmarks that you already have on your alternate computers (rather than just move bookmarks from one computer to the other).Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (1.0.1).
slow loading server Pas encore évalué
The server at www.foxmarks.com ALWAYS loads real slowly for me. Anyone else having this problem? Kinda makes the whole point, remote access to your bookmarks, moot. Been waiting for the server in another tab now for over 60 seconds, with zilch % loaded. Then sometimes foxmarks.com opens but myfoxmark.com will not. 'bout ready to dump this extension.Cette critique est pour une version précédente du module (1.0.1).
