Terrible, it's emptied all of my bookmarks, I had to do a server restore, but evertime I enable Xmarks it empties my Firefox bookmarks again.
This extension is broken since Firefox Quantum... Until they fix it, I'll be using the Firefox-Sync.
I'm very annoyed at them. I'm a premium Lastpass-Xmarks customer. I will not be renewing!
it works in firefox 57
This used to be really good but is totally broken on recent foxes. Not syncing at all, instead exceptions. Removed for the time being, searching for working alternatives. :(
the web extension is terrible. it constantly prompts for login and loses profile data.
Xmarks is my favorite booksmarks manager and syncs great with my browsers. I admit it does take a bit of management to ensure that things are consistent sometimes, but still is the best and most dependable option that I've found.
For FF57+ users, you should use this version:.126.96.36.199a version available here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/xmarks-sync/versions/beta. You will have to login after launching firefox otherwise an annoying popup to authenticate, that doesn't work, will keep showing up.
I've been using Xmarks for years since way back when it was called Foxmarks. I am a premium subscriber for LastPass and Xmarks and am truly annoyed that Xmarks has not been working with any of the recent updates to Firefox.
I had no choice but to revert to Firefox 55.0. It works normally on that FF version. For those not aware of how to get that old version, you can go to https: //file hippo. com/do wnload_firefox/77219/ (Remove the spaces after copying the link. I put spaces after every 6th letter UP TO THE FOURTH GAP because links aren't allowed here).
1) Download the file from the link above and save it to your desktop.
2) If you haven't already done so, sign into your Firefox through Tools on the Menu Bar so that it can automatically save your Add-ons, etc.
3) Uninstall your existing version of FF so that you don't end up having more than one version of FF and so that you don't get confused about which version you are attempting to run.
4) Install Firefox 55.0 from the file you downloaded.
5) Run FF. On the Menu Bar click Tools>Options>Advanced. Then click on the Update tab.
6) On the radio button, select either Check for updates, but let you choose whether to install them.
7) Enjoy a working Xmarks once again.
I hope they are secretly attempting to fix the issue, because it sure feels like we have been abandoned.
Simply doesn't sync. There's a blank white popup that never goes away. If you close it, it says "sync skipped". Use EverSync instead.
Constant problems, and even premium users can't get any support. First it just wasn't syncing my new bookmarks, then it was creating a complete duplicate set every time it synced. If not logged in it CONSTANTLY sends you popups nagging you to log in. Same if there are any syncing errors - CONSTANT popups that just build up. When I udated everything and cleaned out the duplicates and triple checked that chrome and FF sync were off on all my browsers, I finally thought I had that sorted out... but that's when Firefox Quantum came along and everything broke completely. I still have bookmarks in the cloud, but I can't download to any browser, and syncing new bookmarks is completely broken. There doesn't appear to be anyone even working to fix any of this, or if they are, they're sure not communicating with anyone about it. Don't get sucked in: XMarks is either dead or dying, and "support" couldn't care less.
Garbage! After working flawlessly for years, Xmarks took a huge step back in Firefox Quantum. Whether this has to do with the Xmarks team writing shoddy untested code or with Mozilla making a mess of things with Firefox Quantum, the Xmarks team came into this wholly unprepared. Lost bookmarks, constant requests to sign in, inability to sync properly, bookmarks from different profiles mixing together, the list of grievances I have could fill a book. I've since uninstalled all Xmarks extensions from each of my workstations and have gone back to relying an exporting bookmarks to a Dropbox folder. Yes it's more cumbersome, but at least I save myself the aggravation of having to see that ***king red exclamation mark on the Xmarks icon every time I have the audacity to sync a second machine. Call me when these guys finally manage to figure out how to output "Hello world!" to the screen.
Its not working on Firefox Quantumm
It´s not working properly with the last update of Firefox. Always syncing or with some error.
In the last few days, before I realized what was happening, Xmarks created multiple duplicates of my folders and bookmarks, making a mess of information that took me years to compile. Xmarks then wiped out my Bookmarks Toolbar. I now cannot even download the corrupted bookmarks from the Xmarks server so I can try to repair them. Working with the bookmarks online is so tedious that it would take me hours to fix them. Xmarks and LastPass, once dependable, are devolving into junk. Everyone associated with this mess should be ashamed of themselves. Fire the whole team and hire some competent people!
No longer works with current Firefox. Completely messed up my bookmarks. Used to be great.
After 10 years of using xmarks, it doesn't work anymore with Firefox 57. With FF 56 it has fail functions too. hundreds of bookmarks got lost in FF56. IN FF57 there is endless syncing with the result of abort and empty folders. The download of all bookmarks is not possible. The upload of all boomarks isn't possible. Support is not available. And the most worst thing is that the LastPass Company doesn't react to the problems or to the user critics. They obviously are no longer interested in xmarks.
This dismissive behavior causes me to look for a LastPass alternative too.
WARNING: Don't buy the Pro Version until the problems are solved!
Constantly asking to log in with new Firefox.
it clear out all my booknotes..........
Broken AF. Don't use this with latest Firefox.
It's great but I think it can be loved more by the developers (or company) and further improved. I really find this app useful and I would pay for better support; gives me troubles of all kinds from time to time between the different browser. Now the good, thanks for making this, you solved a big trouble in my daily life working on this solution, please keep it going and keep in mind my words if ever read. Regards.
Really stunned at how poor this is in Firefox 57. I sign in, Download my bookmarks, and it leaves all of my bookmarks blank. When I go to my.xmarks.com I see all of them. The extension works fine in Chrome latest. Feels like they are not testing before releasing.
DA quando è uscita la nuova versione di Firefox (57) l'addon non funziona più bene: non riesce a sincronizzare, perde i bookmark o li mischia tra loro. Devo cambbiare addon. Peccato però.
Since FF57, Xmarks has broken many times and always unstable. Since FF57.0.1, Xmarks extension cleared all my bookmarks and left me lots of empty folders. I even have no time to backup my bookmarks on the server. That really sucks!
Ich verwende Xmarks schon sehr lange in der Premium Version! Bin voll und ganz zufrieden!
[Update: Xmarks, running as the only active add-on, locks up Ffx 57 within a few minutes; whether on Linux or Windows]
Since Firefox 57, the Xmarks extension has broken - twice for me. This most recent time, Xmarks propagated over 50 "moz-extension//XXXXX-" screens, effectively rendering my system unusable.
Updating to the latest version does not fix the problem. Interestingly, this is the only extension which: 1) requires a manual update and; 2) does not notify that a new update is available. Frustrating.
fwiw, this ongoing fiasco, coupled with Xmark's scattered support resources has inspired me to look for alternatives; not only for Xmarks but for LastPass. Too much pain here.
