Attention: Screen Time Tracker & Blocker par Digital Shields - Tech

See where your browser time actually goes. Attention is a screen time tracker and website blocker: per-site time, daily limits that hold, focus sessions, a to-do list, and your real attention span. 100% local - no server, no analytics, no account.

À propos de cette extension
A screen time tracker that tells you why, not just how much.

Most screen time trackers tell you that you spent four hours on YouTube. This one tells you why that happened.

Attention is a screen time tracker and website blocker for Firefox. It shows where your browser time actually goes, blocks distracting websites with daily limits that hold, and measures something no other time tracker does: your real attention span - the median unbroken stretch you manage on a single site before switching away.

Nothing leaves your computer

This matters more than any feature, so it comes first.
  • No server. No analytics. No account. No sign-in to a cloud service.
  • Domains, durations and every statistic are computed on your own machine and stored in local browser storage.
  • Site categorisation runs from a table bundled inside the add-on, so classifying a website never makes a network request.
  • The add-on never reads the content of any page you visit - only the hostname. It requests no permission to read or change data on the websites you use.
  • On first run it asks for your name and email so you can be told about updates. That single submission is the only thing ever sent, and it is never combined with your browsing data.

What makes this different from every other website usage tracker

Every other tracker reports totals. Totals hide the problem. Four hours in one focused block and four hours split across two hundred tab switches look identical on a pie chart, but they are not the same day.

Attention measures the shape of your focus:
  • Attention span - your typical unbroken stretch on one site
  • Longest focus - the best run you managed all week
  • Switches per hour - how fragmented the day really was
  • Rabbit holes - chains of four or more different sites with no pause between them
  • Deep focus share - how much of your time was in sessions over five minutes

Screen time tracking that is actually accurate
  • Per-site screen time, updated live
  • Idle time excluded automatically - walk away from the keyboard and the clock stops
  • Only the active, focused tab is counted, so background tabs never inflate your numbers
  • Sleep and browser restarts are handled, so a closed laptop never becomes eight hours of screen time

Most time trackers get at least one of these wrong. It is the difference between web usage data you trust and data you ignore.

Block distracting websites - daily limits that hold

Set a daily time limit on any site. When you reach it the page is replaced, not a notification you can swipe away. Every tab on that domain is blocked, so switching to your second YouTube tab does not work.

Free: block websites with a daily limit from 15 minutes to 3 hours, on as many sites as you like, with a five-minute snooze.

This is a website blocker built for people who keep talking their way past ordinary blockers.

A built-in task manager and to-do list - free

A to-do list lives right in the popup, because the thing you meant to do is the reason you opened the browser in the first place.
  • Four lists: Today, This Week, This Month and Someday
  • Add a task and press Enter - no account, no sync, no setup
  • Click any task to edit it, tick it off, or move it to another list
  • A badge on the toolbar shows how many tasks are still open today
  • Unfinished tasks never disappear on their own. Only completed ones age out

A daily focus score, 0 to 100

One number for how the day went - a productivity score built from how your time split across categories and how concentrated it was. Sites are sorted automatically into Work, Learning, News, Finance, Social, Fun, Shopping and Other. No setup and no manual tagging, and you can re-categorise any site yourself in one click.

See it by day, yesterday, week, month, year, or as a running total since you installed. Every period compares against the one before, so you know whether you are improving. An hour-of-day heatmap shows when you actually browse, which is usually more revealing than what you browse.

Pro - $3.99 a year
  • Your weekly review - the add-on reads your last seven days and hands you a job title you did not ask for, with the figures that earned it and one thing worth changing
  • Focus sessions - a focus timer for 25, 50 or 90 minutes of blocking on demand
  • Recurring schedules - "block Social and Fun, weekdays 9 to 5". Rules work by category, so websites you have never visited are covered automatically
  • Strict Mode - removes the escape hatches. No snoozing, no ending a session early, no quietly raising a daily limit. Switching it off takes a delay you set in advance, while you still meant it
  • Task manager add-ons - due dates, priorities, repeating tasks, and time-on-site per task
  • Unlimited history - step back through any month or any year. Free keeps 180 days
  • CSV export with categories, ready for a spreadsheet
  • Backup and restore, so a reinstall never costs you your history
  • Five extra themes: Midnight, Nord, Forest, Sepia and Rose

One payment a year. No subscription traps, no account required.

Who this is for

Students who lose evenings to rabbit holes. Remote workers whose focus is quietly shredded by tab switching. Anyone with ADHD who already knows they are distracted and wants the number rather than the lecture. Anyone doing a digital detox who needs a website blocker that does not fold the moment it becomes inconvenient. Anyone chasing better time management and productivity who is tired of screen time trackers that only produce prettier charts.

Honest about what it cannot do

Strict Mode cannot stop you disabling or uninstalling the add-on. It is a speed bump sized to outlast an impulse, not a lock, and the add-on says so in its own interface rather than pretending otherwise.

The attention span figure is measured from your own browsing, so it needs a few days of use before it means anything.

Install Attention and find out what your real attention span is. Most people are surprised, and not in a good way.
