Sideview keeps the AI chat you already use open in Firefox's sidebar, so you can ask about what you are reading without switching tabs or losing your place.

Open several chats at once, with the same AI or different ones, each in its own tab. They stay beside every page you visit and come back when you reopen the sidebar.

Works with the chat you use

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and other popular AI chat sites work straight after install. The sidebar shows each AI's own website, signed in with your own account, so your plan, history and settings come with it. Hide the ones you don't use and put the rest in your order. No API keys, no extra account

Sideview uses the accounts you are already signed in to. The free version needs no Sideview account and does not contact Sideview's servers. It reads page text only when you choose Send selection to chat, and does not read conversation contents.

Free
  • Sidebar that stays open across tabs; toggle it from the toolbar button or Alt+Shift+S
  • A tab for each chat: rename, pin and star chats, and hover a tab for a preview
  • A start page with your starred and recent chats, and a search box once the list grows
  • Alt+1 to Alt+9 pick a tab and Alt+0 shows the start page
  • Send selected text to the chat
  • Sign-in hand-off: if an AI needs you to sign in in a normal tab, Sideview opens one and brings you back to the sidebar signed in
  • Unused tabs sleep to save memory
  • Text size for each AI, light/dark theme, start AI, order and visibility
  • Back up and restore settings; interface in nine languages

Sideview Pro (optional subscription, $5 USD a month or $40 USD a year, plus applicable tax; cancel any time)
  • Send the page, a screenshot, an image, a PDF, a video transcript, a link or several tabs to the chat
  • Right-click Summarize, Explain and Translate
  • Quick search (Alt+Shift+K) for every action, and saved prompts with fill-in blanks, synced through Firefox Sync
  • Split view: up to four chats side by side in the sidebar
  • Compare up to four AIs with one question, in the sidebar or a full tab, and ask another AI to check an answer
  • Export a chat as Markdown or PDF, or send it to Obsidian
  • Quick chat dock on web pages, off until you turn it on
  • Site rules: open a chosen AI or chat on chosen sites
  • Workspaces, a scratchpad, reply notifications, added chat sites and optional chat sync between your computers

Teams (optional subscription, at least three seats)

Pro for every member, one invoice, shared prompts and site rules, team defaults and owner/admin/editor/member roles. Team prices are at sideview.app/pricing.

Pro tools read a page only when you use them. Page text and screenshots go into the chat you chose, never to Sideview.

Privacy

Sideview has no browsing analytics. Chat addresses and titles stay on your device unless you turn on chat sync, which goes through Firefox Sync. Conversations remain with your AI providers. Signing in lets Sideview check your plan and, for teams, download shared prompts, rules and defaults. Firefox asks for optional data permissions for account access, chat sync and team activity, and the free sidebar works if you decline.
