This is a nice add-on. It does what it does well.
I really appreciate having the ability to zoom when I have a page loaded in the sidebar. I haven't found another add-on that will let me do that.
I have a question though: Is there any way to have the add-on recall the zoom level set for a specific page?
I have a bookmark that loads Todoist in my sidebar. It displays much better when I am zoomed out a bit. However, any time I load something else in the sidebar, the zoom level will be reset when I return to Todoist.
Thanks for a great product, and for any help that you are able to give!
not work on FF38.6, FF39.
need on/off plugin (without restart) then i can open sidebar, after restart FF and again - nosidebar
0.2.2.1-signed - now.
0.2.0.1-signed - the latest version when it worked
Strange, very similar issue was fixed in latest version:
https://addons.mozilla.org/ru/firefox/addon/sidebars-list/versions/0.2.2.1-signed
Which version are you use?
If I understand correctly, see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=892485 "History sidebar/Library scrolls to top when selected history entry is revisited"
and https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/bug892485_preventscrollonhi/
goodjob!
Given that Mozilla removed the Bookmarks and History Sidebar toolbar buttons in Fx29, it's good that this still works. Thanks.
I actually tried 'All in One' first and found it too much. This is pretty well perfect and just the right amount of useful functionality. So thanks - hope you maintain it! :)
i was looking for a 'button' to activate BM sidebar, but this is nicer. It collapses sidebar instead of closing it each time.
With the collapse instead of close option, i don't have to retrain myself to click margin instead of close 'x'... Nice.
Thanks again, Landis.
Very nice extension! I find the ability to collapse the sidebar to be especially useful.
I do have one feature request: would it be possible to have the option to open the download window in the sidebar as well?
> I do have one feature request: would it be possible to have the option to open the download window in the sidebar as well?
Currently Sidebars List only simplifies usage of any sidebars (from any extensions) and don't add sidebars itself.
Just to keep it simple and fast.
But you can use third-party extension like Download Manager Tweak https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/download-manager-tweak/ to add downloads sidebar.
Also you can create bookmark for "chrome://mozapps/content/downloads/downloads.xul" or "about:downloads" URL (without quotes, of course) and check "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" option.
Or you can try more extended extensions for sidebars management:
All-in-One Sidebar https://addons.mozilla.org/ru/firefox/addon/all-in-one-sidebar/
OmniSidebar https://addons.mozilla.org/ru/firefox/addon/omnisidebar/
I have used All-in-One Sidebar some years ago, but didn't used most of its features... That why Sidebars List appeared. :)
Great add-on. I installed it for that “tab in sidebar” feature. I think it would be perfect if it closed the tab after then.
EDIT: None of the options work in Linux
EDIT: Your descriptions about the preferences shows that I’ve been misunderstood. So sorry.
1. A narrow bar appears on the left side of window, even when the sidebar is closed. I thought unchecking the collapse should make it go. The collapsing option you explained works.
2. I thought the splitter is the narrow bar on the RIGHT side of the sidebar which splits the sidebar from the tab content. Changing the splitter values don’t have any effects on this.
The left-side splitter is OK, however its minimum size is 6 and actually doesn’t get smaller.
> I think it would be perfect if it closed the tab after then.
I can add an option for this:
https://github.com/Infocatcher/Sidebars_List/issues/2
> None of the options work in Linux
I can't test on Linux right now, but are you sure?
Disable menu items for opened sidebars: should disables "Bookmarks" checkbox in the menu (will be displayed with gray text) while bookmarks opened in sidebar.
Collapse sidebar (instead of close): to reopen sidebar in the same state (but only in only in current session), e.g. open bookmarks and type something in "search" field, then close sidebar and open it again (with bookmarks, of course) to see the same state.
Splitter width (and splitter width in maximized window): just a width of the splitter in the left side of window.

Exactly what I need. More lightweight aios analogue.
The zoom in focused sidebar works with Ctrl-- and Ctrl-+ on web pages! It is great!
Think three-dimensional. You know Bookmarks and History to show up in a seperate window. You know Bookmarks and History to show up in a sidebar. With this add-on Bookmarks and History can also show up in a tab.
Have fun. Bookmarks and/or History in a window, a sidebar and/or in a tab; or in more tabs. Mix them in every combination you can think of. Endless opportunities. Pffft. Highly recommended!
What a nice add-on! I always thought of similar way of space organization, but never thought that a sidebar could give such comfort for browsing, it's simply awesome.
