Great Addon - saves me lots of printer ink!
Just one wish: a keyboard-shortcut like ctrl-p or something to call print-edit from the keyboard
Allows you to excise irrelevant junk from your print job, saving space, paper and ink. Been waiting years for this and finally it has arrived. The functions enabled by PrintEdit should be incorporated into every browser by default.
With a little try-and-error, I now create neat printouts that only contain what I intend to keep/print. I'd love to have it for Thunderbird, too!
Harus agan-agan pasang ni...memudahkan pemakaian sehari-hari. Terutama dalam hal cetak-mencetak. Tampilannya juga keren...
This is a great add-on, but can anyone let me know how to change the color of the text before printing? There are webpages where some of the text is in white so they are not visible in print preview or on the printout. Thanks and cheers.
The simplest way to make all text black is to:
- click the 'Select' button, then click 'Select All'
- click the 'Format' button, then click 'Plain Text', tick 'Apply to nested sub-elements', and click 'OK'.
If you only want to make some of the text black, then only select these elements before using the 'Format' command. If you want to refine the operation of the 'Format' command, then tick or untick individual 'Properties' (e.g. if you don't want the background changed to white, then untick the 'Background' property).
Excellent addon. Helps avoid unnecessary clutter, and makes pdf creation faster (as lesser stuff to process).
Only thing lacking is that it doesn't retain hyperlinks (url).
I request the deveoper to please add the feature to retain the hyperlinks.
Thanks for a great addon.
EDIT: @ DW-dev, but the links are still not retained when creating a pdf. I guess, it is a firefox / cairo limitation then, instead of print edit.
Print Edit specifically disables hyperlinks whilst editing the web page. This is to avoid the user accidentally loading another web page and losing the edits to the original web page. Why would you want to follow (click) a link when editing a web page prior to printing?
When saving an edited web page, Print Edit retains the hyperlinks so that the links can be followed (clicked) if the web page is re-opened with Firefox.
This add-on not only adds functionality I find useful, it also replaces an add-on that I found essential until I found Print Edit. It allows me to have a Print Preview option in the icon's drop-down list and also in the right-click context menu. The additional editing ability is an awesome bonus. I love being able to save paper on documents that will be printed (by removing unnecessary ads and navigation sections), and even if the document won't be printed, if it's being saved for reference, it looks better without the extra stuff. The options available in the Edit toolbar seem to cover every possibility I'd need for editing.
It lets me print only what I want. I can get rid of everything else, and it is easy. This is the best add-on out there.
So Good. Makes printing exactly what I want so easy to do.
I love it.
saves a lot of paper
I absolutely love this add-on. What a clever idea! In addition, It Just Works (tm)!
So simple, but so effective. Can't believe that I haven't come accross something like this in the past.
I would be better to in French
A Copy function of the web page would be welcome to put it in the clipboard
This is by far the best. Imagine needing to print a post from a Facebook page. If the post is far on the page you'd normally need many pages. With print edit you can "erase" all unwanted posts, pictures, etc. from the page and just print what you need thus only needing one sheet of paper. This is perfect to print posts from my mayor to show everyone he doesn't know how to write!
A must for everyone, should be built into FF
Keep up the great work.
good idea, this is what was needed since gazillion adds populate the webpages. User do not need to print senseless messages!
What a Utility, man??:-D
It has helped me a gr8 deal since I very often need to edit webpages b4 printing...or converting them to pdf...I visit lot of academic sites but they always have lots of stuff I dont want to look onto again and again later on...So, this tool Helps....:-D
I have always had issues printing to my laser printer. It would crash my system. This fixed it. Excellent!
I love this add-on, it kicks some serious behind and lowers my printer's ink cost greatly. Not to mention all of the trees that this add-on will save. Not many add-ons can have this great an impact on personal finances and the environment--for these reasons I'm calling this my hands down favorite add-on for Firefox. Kudos to the author!
I've wanted this capability for a long time. Now I can print only what I want from any page. Great job! I had trouble at first installing on my Mac Pro with Lion OS from the add-on manager. Was only able to install correctly from the main Mozilla add-on page (by clicking the Download button). Works fine now though.
How good is that !
Life just got easier
I just installed Print Edit on my office Mac and used it on the Print Edit page itself, to print out the info and instructions w/o the footer, boilerplate, etc. It worked very nicely; this is something I've been wishing for. I'll put it on my MacBook Air when I get home.
Two problems, though (maybe just one, see below) -- not serious to me -- that I wish would be fixed:
1. Print Edit pre-empts the whole Firefox window, not just the tab I'm editing. *I can't see any of my other tabs while editing for printing*, which is often something I want to do. So I have to remember to drag the tab out to a window of its own before using Print Edit.
2. Many of the sections have borders around them that weren't on the original page. ... Well, on very close inspection they were, but so pale as to be almost invisible. When I print in B&W they're a uniform pale grey. But maybe they would have been anyway, so this is very minor or zero value as an issue.
Oh, and BTW, Firefox: The email announcement had the subject line "Keep your Firefox tabs loading lightening fast". Yes, this *lightens* my *load*, but that's not what you meant, and that line as written is confusing and meaningless:
LIGHTNING ≠ LIGHT*E*NING
Love this but at first I couldn't get it to work. After editing preview and print opens a Foxtab page instead of the edited page. I disabled Foxtab (don't really use it anyway) and all is fine.
The cause of the incompatibility between Print Edit and FoxTab has been found, and a fix has been designed and tested. The fix will be in the next version of Print Edit (8.4) which should be released next week.
Print Edit is brilliant. Thank you for developing it. Between it and Siphon Add-On synchronizer, I can browse happy.
Awesome! This addon deserves to be native of Firefox family. Thank you!
