it was 5 stars
I have tried to search with hugo across 7 tabs and it will only find one entry in one particular tab. and its not the one i want. has dne this with multiple searches. It's probably me but i dont see an option that I can change to make it search all tabs.
Since Showcase development seems to have stopped and doesn't work from v55 (and therefore not at all at v57, as only 'web extensions' work from that version and up) I have been searching for a replacement. Hugo seems to be a great replacement (hopefully it will 'survive' web extensions !!)
There is however one feature I'm missing a lot in Hugo compared to Showcase : The ability to search tabs for all open Firefox windows, not just tabs in the current window.
If that in any way is possible to implement could you please consider adding that possibility? Then Hugo is not just a replacement, but a big improvement to Showcase (because of it much more advanced search features). Especially when it is combined with "All Tabs Helper" so I can search in the text / title of the tabs themselves and also the URL's (which Hugo can't)
Great work !
Unfortunately I don't have any plans to carry Hugo on with WebExtensions as the time involved with basically rebuilding it from the ground up is prohibitive for me at this time. Thus, as Hugo will stop working in release versions in just a couple of months, I don't plan on supporting it any longer.
As I'm sure I read somewhere in the description (?I think?), this is an absolute must when doing research - especially if you are the chaotic-minded type (like myself) who opens far too many tabs and then can't find that one small word or sentence on that tab I opened sometime recently and have to otherwise search each tab separately.
What's more, it doesn't stop there! While I have yet to make use of all of its various ins and outs, I have found so far that this is an excellent addon, very quick and easy to use, and also customisable (in regards to the shortcut keys in particular).
As an aside to Viktor who wrote a review about this time last year - while Hugo may not search tab headings (I haven't actually checked to confirm if this is still true), "All Tabs Helper" by the same developer does. That and so much more!
Incredibly fast and powerful. If it had an option to highlight all the results in the page, it'd be just perfect.
Hoping that it will go multiprocess-compatible!
very good extension! Thank you!
This is a wonderful extension and helps me a lot with keeping track of hundreds of tabs. I am extremely happy it searches within pdfs!
I only wish it could search in tab titles as well. Whenever I restart Firefox all the tabs become "unloaded" and I understand we can't search within them without loading them first. The titles, however, are visible and Hugo must be able to search within those. Please add title search to the extension! Thank you!
helps big for me sense i am in school. not hard to learn or use, pair it with something like a macro mouse and your set!!!
What a powerful addon you have here, no doubt about it!
Where are this addon's options though? I don't see any, anywhere. You replied to one of the reviews saying that Hugo now has the option to search for less than 3 characters but the current version I just downloaded insists on a minimum of 3. I see no where to set it for less. I also don't see how to move the Hugo sidebar to the bottom like you showed in a screenshot, or to the right-side of my browser.
I also have your All Tabs Helper addon too I didn't realize that was yours as well but I found both tonight by happenstance!
One suggestion if I may. Your All Tabs Helper addon includes itself in Firefox's default "Show Sidebars" button but Hugo does not. Can you add Hugo to that too like you did for All Tabs Helper? It means one less button cluttering my toolbar.
I cannot imagine how long it took you to make this addon but it's amazing and I am so glad you did!
Thanks a ton!
Hi, thanks for the review, I hope Hugo can be useful to you. The character minimum is automatically reduced to 2 when FAYT is disabled, as there is too much potential for unexpected resource demands if using FAYT with less than 3 char minimum. Unfortunately I see that when FAYT is disabled, the message still says 3 chars are required, I'll have to fix that.
To move Hugo between sidebar/bottom view, right click in the results field, and the option is there.
Hugo can be opened from the Tools menu if you don't want to use the toolbar button: Tools - Hugo - "Open Hugo". Also ctrl + alt + H (cmd + alt + H for Mac). This keyboard shortcut can be changed in Options.
Options are in Options window: Tools > Hugo > Options, also from Firefox Addons page

"Search within" - this is awesome function.
Allasso Travesser, thank you for upgrading this addon. I adore you
Thanks for this addon very useful one - any chance it also looks inner frames? noticed it wont search in web sites having inner frames. Thanks again.
frame/iframe support was added in Version 0.1.7
This...is a powerful addon. If you use "find as you type" on webpages, I urge you to try this. Imagine the same thing but across multiple tabs, sorted, highlighted, and much more.
This really is powerful, useful, an easy to use implementation of a great idea. 5 stars to the author.
Nice touches to a straight forward, intuitively presented add-on.
That said, as a frustrated FOXTAB user, having the ability to search ALL Firefox windows would greatly extend the functionality of HUGO - if you could incorporate the graphics of FOXTAB, HUGO would become legendary.
IAE, thanks for a great tool...
frame/iframe support was added in Version 0.1.7
For a web developer like me, this is a God-send. Great work dev! And many thanks.
Useful addon. Send search word from Fx searchfield to sidebar is great idea. Waiting for the fix of Highlight All problem and, also, please make compatibility with Fx25.
Thank you kindly for participating.
Hugo is now Compatible with Fx 25. Because of the new implementation of the Findbar, Hugo needs to have its own searchfield, and will now operate completely independent of Findbar.
Thanks to the developer!
I've been using this add-on for about two weeks now and it's now a part of my everyday life and research. If you have used All-tabs helper from the same developer of this add-on and you want to take your in-tab searching to an advanced degree, then this is for you! So far, I've not had issues with it.
However, I'm hopeful we'll get an add-on to search through in-tab PDFs in the future : ) and we can choose to search for two-lettered words e.g. acronyms/initialisms and not the minimum three : )
Please, when this current add-on is fully released, I'll be glad to pay to support the service. Thanks.
Thank you, I am glad it is working well for you. Hugo now has the option to search less than 3 characters.
Firefox has updated its PDF rendering, and Hugo will now search PDFs.
This add on fills the void that exists for search.
You can search the web and pick out a speck of information, but when it comes to the page you're on, or the 10 tabs you have open, things have never been as complete until now. This app enables one to drill down on the page, on multiple pages, and with the context needed to decide whether to proceed and investigate further. There have been other tools like that do parts of what this app does but they've never been as fully developed or stuck around. This is one of the few apps that will increase productivity enough that I would actually pay for it, and that's saying a lot. I can't believe it's taken this long in the life of Firefox to achieve what it seems like page searching was meant to be.
