Blocking access to logins/comments Noté 1 sur 5 étoiles

I used Do Not Track Plus successfully for several months and then it began to affect my ability to login to some sites (a minority of those I use), like and, where logging in with Yahoo! or Facebook ID's is permitted, or it simply would not allow me to go to certain comment boards. Clicking on "Allow" in DNT+ and reloading the page solves the problem each time. I'm loaded with anti-virus programs (USA Today did an article on my setup) and the DNT problem is months old so I don't think it's an infection but it may be related to some other Firefox addon - I use many of them. Or it may be due to some new URL programming steps.

A potential fix for you

Thanks for your question. You're probably using an older version of DNT+ and can fix many of those issues simply be reinstalling the newest version. The newer version ships with our suggested blocking list that's been built to address the types of problems you're seeing: namely, that Facebook tracking and Connect is so integrated across the web that you occasionally need to enable it to prevent the site from breaking.

The only reason why we suggest allowing certain sites by default is because the website won't function without them. For example, one of the main reasons people go to is to watch videos. Blocking certain trackers causes videos not to load. That's why we allow them. Our goal with DNT+ is to give you as much privacy as possible without breaking the web experience in the process. Hopefully this makes sense, and again, you can manually choose to block them yourself.

Some additional comments on features on Facebook itself: sometimes it won’t work if you’re blocking tracking companies. The most common company we’ve seen problems with is called “Visual Sciences.” Please open your DNT+ alert window at Facebook and unblock "Visual Sciences,” then refresh your Facebook page. If you’re still having trouble, we suggest turning off DNT+ to see if that resolves the issue.

Fortunately, if you turn off DNT+ at Facebook, com, it will still block Facebook trackers on thousands of other websites where they appear. So your privacy is protected as you travel around the web, and you don't need to worry about getting targeted Facebook advertising.
